This is a negative review of a dinner at this restaurant, unfortunately. Last week, a group of us visited Lolas (3 prople) which I believe was our fifteenth visit. We usually enjoy coming here, but this time we had a very unpleasant experience.
We ordered different types of tacos, some of which we shared, and others we each had individually. The service was great, and everything seemed fine.
Unfortunately, the night/morning after our dinner, we all started feeling very very unwell. My partner had severe stomach pain, which worsened, and we ended up having to call a doctor to the hotel. The rest of us had similar digestive issues. Doctor treath him with IVF dirrectly and ATB for bacterial problem from food or water.
We realized that the only place we had eaten together in the last 48 hours was Lolas, so it seemed to be the only possible source of our food poisoning. We spent the next two days in bed, in pain and unable to do anything, which completely ruined our vacation plans.
We, of course, informed the restaurant, and they said they would take steps to address the situation. They apologize. But it is more than one week and no further step toward us...
However, I am writing this review because, in recent months, there have been similar negative reviews, indicating that this issue is not isolated. While it could have been an unfortunate incident, repeated complaints from other customers suggest that the restaurant should reconsider its procedures, especially concerning hygiene and the quality of ingredients.
Our treatment costs amounted to 6 million, and the dinner itself cost us 1 million. In addition, we lost two full days of our vacation, which was deeply disappointing. Lolas is usually a popular spot, but this experience has made us hesitant to return. We hope the situation is addressed and that no one else has to go through...
Read moreThe food here is great, but there are a few things to note: this place will charge you 3% if you pay with card, even though this is not technically legal in Indonesia. I brought this up and was only met with embarrassed laughter. For me it's not a matter of $$$, but the principle. This is a bad business practice that I cannot condone, and it doesn't seem like anything will change as the staff member said that the boss refuses to acknowledge this. Bring cash or don't come at all if you don't want to be ripped off. we got a vegan cheese that had gone bad - it tasted sour and nasty. Staff member initially told us that nothing was wrong with the vegan cheese before then offering to replace it. I think it's a matter of safe food storage, this would not have happened if the cheese had been in the right temperature. Exercise caution when you eat here. the bill was inaccurate every time I was here, I am always charged more. The staff need to pay a little more attention to the math. Check the bill every time you're about to pay. also check your change or you might be short. Again, math needs a little more attention.
Come for the tacos (love the grilled fish and shrimp) and remember to bring cash. I hate to have to write this negative review, but I feel obligated to inform potential customers of this horrible practice. Reputation will always trump short-term profit, and reputation is never built on greed and poor treatment of customers. As a businessowner myself, I know that credit card fees are part of the cost of doing business - and don't even get me started on how the fees here are NEVER 3% (meaning restaurants take in extra when you use a card).
I hope that this place sees some much-needed...
Read moreWe hadn't made any reservations, but the staff kindly asked us to wait at the bar for a brief period, which, to our relief, didn't extend beyond 10 minutes. To kick things off, I ordered a mezcalitta, and it was nothing short of amazing. The smoky notes of mezcal combined with the refreshing elements of a margarita created a delightful concoction. One aspect that caught our attention was the diversity of the menu. It's not often you find fajitas on the menu in an authentic Mexican eatery, and that left us a bit intrigued. However, we decided to go for the tacos, and we made sure to ask the waitress to confirm that they were prepared with corn tortillas. We opted for a selection of six different flavors, and the variety was impressive. In my opinion, the standout was the Al Pastor taco, with its bold and savory flavors. On the other hand, the pulled chicken taco was a bit lackluster, and it didn't quite meet our expectations. While the food was decent, it was the overall ambiance and drinks that elevated our experience at Lola's. The mood was lively, and the mezcalitta definitely played a role in enhancing our enjoyment.
In all honesty, I've had better tacos at other places, even as far as Bali. However, Lola's offers a unique blend of Mexican flavors and a vibrant atmosphere that can make it a great choice if you're looking for a fun night out. If you're more of a traditionalist when it comes to Mexican cuisine, it might not fully meet your expectations, but for those seeking a lively, casual dining experience, it's...
