Food is top notch. Phenomenal quality. But PLEASE read what I have to say:
You can take any form of transport here (we used Grab). However, the locals here harrass and do not like for folks to get picked up here using rideshare apps like Grab. I read about this in the reviews for the hotel in which the restaurant is at (not the restaurant itself), and hotel staff also told me that Grab doesn't come to the hotel. However, they said it's fine if I walk down the street and call from there. Therefore, I walked 5 mins away from the hotel and called a Grab. Some locals who saw us getting in the car SPRINTED to our Grab car and started harassing me, my wife, and the driver demanding we get out. I had to tell him no, that we were already in the car, and I wasn't getting out. Eventually he left.
This experienced soured my visit here to this restaurant. It made me and my wife extremely uncomfortable. I would only come here if you had someone you can message on whatsapp to pick you up.
I understand why locals don't like Grab (take commision and compete with taxi drivers), but to me this is unacceptable to put tourists through this. I feel comfortable with Grab bc it's regulated and if something were to happen, drivers are trace able and trackable. I am an American visiting Indonesia, and safety is paramount
I would encourage the hotel to try and convince the locals to allow Grab to come here. To my knowledge, it's not a local law. It's an informal thing the locals do with Grab. I understand the hotel may not have direct control over it (which is why I'm not giving lower than a 5), but they can probably negotiate with the locals.
Food and service was great. Which is why I'm giving 5/5. But I would NOT tell anyone I know to come here without planning for this pesky context bc it can be stressful. If you're okay getting in someone's random car to get back to town,...

If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. I genuinely can't understand how this restaurant has earned a 4.9 rating on Google – it’s beyond me.
My husband and I ordered dinner during our trip to Ubud on December 23rd, 2024, and were thoroughly disappointed. First off, this place is not an independent restaurant; it's located within a high-end resort, which explains the exorbitant prices (400k for a single starter and biryani). This is not mentioned anywhere in their Google listing, making it the first attempt at misleading customers.
Next, the portion sizes were ridiculously small – far smaller than what we’re used to, even in other Ubud restaurants. We typically order one starter and one main course, and back home in Canada, it's always more than enough for the two of us, often with leftovers. However, here, we went to bed hungry, and had to wake up early for a hearty breakfast to compensate.
As for the taste, it was subpar at best. The food was overly rich in artificial coloring, and our fingers were stained the next day despite being in water activities all day – that should tell you something about the quality. We ordered the biryani, which tasted more like a curry hastily mixed with rice and dumped into a container. Speaking of containers, they were made of cheap cardboard with no inner lining. The drive back to our AirBnB after picking the food up at the restaurant was a 9-minute drive back, and all we could taste was cardboard.
Absolutely terrible. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. I wouldn’t want other travellers to be duped like we were. There are far better dining...
