The Kayon Resort Ubud — Hotel in Pulau Bali

My wife and I stayed at The Kayon Resort in August 2023. We selected the Kayon as the venue for our private wedding ceremony and subsequent honeymoon based on the stellar reviews and views of the waterfall. The Kayon exceeded all expectations. Here are some details of our experience:

The Staff: Starting with this as it was the best part of the Kayon. Each and every member of the hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. Even before we stepped foot on the resort, we were treated to the highest level of hospitality and service.

Months before our trip, our Wedding Coordinator Anggi worked with us to plan the wedding and each detail, from the flower arrangements to the music. Even with a 12 hour time difference, she was easily reachable and responsive over Whatsapp. Once we arrived, she made sure to keep in touch with us to finalize each and every detail for the wedding. The wedding day could not have gone better or smoother and it was all thanks to Anggi. We will never forget how she made our day, and overall stay, perfect.

We wanted to give another special shout out to Dewa M, our driver and friend during our stay at the Kayon. He is an exceptional and safe driver. From the moment he picked us up at DPS airport, he made sure to prioritize our comfort. Knowing that we had a long journey to DPS, and still had another 1.5 hour drive to The Kayon from DPS, he drove smoothly which let us relax during the drive. We had the pleasure of being Dewa's passengers for many more trips during our stay at The Kayon, and each trip was enjoyable and educational. Dewa is highly knowledgeable of Balinese culture and was a wealth of information. He taught us a lot about Balinese culture (including its cuisine, customs, history, etc.).

We could list every member of The Kayon staff here as they each made our stay special. Together, they have set a new standard for hospitality and service in our minds.

The Wedding: My wife and I opted for the Intimate Wedding Package at the Canyon Jetty. The day of the wedding, everything went smoothly and beautifully. Anggi managed everything (photos, makeup, food, etc.) with incredible precision, and all my wife and I had to do was enjoy our special day. The package even includes things like a complimentary couples spa treatment. The value we got for the price of the package was incredible.

The Room: We stayed at the River Edge Pool Villa. The room was very clean and beautifully decorated when we checked in. We had a direct, breathtaking view of the waterfall and river from our room and pool. Each day, our room was meticulously cleaned and organized. Despite being right by the river, we did not have any issues with mosquitos.

The Food: We ate all of our breakfasts along with a few dinners and lunches at the Kepitu restaurant. My wife and I are both vegetarians, and were both very pleased to see a full vegetarian menu. Our first night there, we requested to have a vegetarian version some local cuisine. We were presented with vegetarian Sambal Oelek with tempeh and rice. It was quite honestly one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. My wife enjoyed it immensely as well. We loved it so much that we requested the recipe from the chef, which they happily sent over via Whatsapp. Other dishes on the menu (such as Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng) were delicious as well. The food was honestly even better than most of the restaurants outside of the Kayon resort.

Overall, our trip at The Kayon was incredible and unforgettable. We cannot recommend it enough, and would give it 6/5...

I am not sure where to start - maybe with the fact that this is my first review in several years, but I just feel that this resort deserves a review.

We stayed in one of the riverside villas for 5 nights. The resort organised a transport for us from the airport to the resort and even though we were approximately two hours late (mainly due to the slow immigration process), our driver - by the way the best driver I have experienced in years - Dewa - was still patiently waiting for us and greated us very warmly and offered us some cold drinks and some wet towels. We immediately felt very relaxed and in entire holiday mood. Due to our late arrival we did not have the chance to grab anything to eat yet - Dewa immediately called the resort to get us some table booked.

When we arrived at the resort, we were so warmly welcomed again and the receptionist Rudi performed an arrival ritual with us and offered us a welcome drink (the best drink we had in years).

Some additional points I would like to mention which really make this resort deserve the great feedbacks in my opinion: everyone from the staff is very friendly, respectful and attentive - they basically fulfilled all of our individual wishes and even more impressive: they all knew and always welcomed us by our names (I sometimes felt bad not to know all of their names by heart without looking at their name plates) the room was cleaned several times a day - they exactly knew when we were out of the room due to some activity and a few minutes later they already started their service - they even re-arranged the room again once we went out again after the first cleaning happened the Kepitu restaurant and the breakfast is very tasty and offers Indonesian, Balinese and international choices - all the waiters are very attentive and well educated - we want to thank all the waiters and especially Mang Ayu, Gede and Gomboh for their great services which made us feel very well! we enjoyed two massages and both of them were phenomenal - the atmosphere is very relaxing and the sound of the nearby waterfall makes it even more relaxing. A special thanks goes to Budi and Okta for their great massaging skills and their warm personalities.

There would be so many more positive things to say. I can definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants to find some peace in the middle of the forest away from hectic Ubud. Thanks again as well to our driver Dewa which supported us over several days - with your great attitude you made our stay unforgettable and we are very honored that we got to know your culture/religion.

As a small suggestion: we made several trips which were offered by the hotel and one of them was quite long and stressful as you are basically hopping from one location to another in a very short timeframe - nevertheless, we want to thank our guide Eben for his great insights to the Balinese history, culture and religion which was very interesting and inspiring.

We will definitely come back to this resort in the coming years.
