Good hour or so here. There are a lot of steps down and then back up again! Unfortunately they don't offer hand rails, after navigating the varying steps I reached the bottom and bosh down I went (the paving was slimy and flip flops have no grip!) Queue the staff helping get me up and a nasty graze to my hand, some iodine and a plaster later and we were shown to the changing areas (there is male and female changing but there is no private changing). Then back up some slimy steps , jump in a golf cart to the point where you hop in your tubes. The staff gave a full briefing and in we popped to our "tubes" - the water is like a dirty brown river water so don't wear anything decent and it's very silty on the bottom. You trundle along with the flow of the water and go through 15 tunnels some are open to daylight and some are dark and the cave roofs are only about 2-3 inches from the end of your nose (you have to lay back flat). During the "ride" one of the team are with you but at the end they let you go 1 by 1 down two small drops and hey presto you are back to the changing area. A quick shower (I would advise you wear your flip flops at all times) with fresh laundered towels supplied by the company and we were good to go. Before we left the the team were collecting our towels and he went down (having removed his aqua socks), so these would also be a recommendation. Only one downside, they don't really know the reason for the tunnels in that they were constructed by Japanese prisoners during WWII but why?? Thanks...
Read moreDO NOT DO IF YOU WANT TO RELAX.
This was such a horrible and traumatising experience. My friend and I just wanted to relax down a lazy river and hey yeah some tunnels, but instead we were sung and screamed at, splashed, spun and rocked around, scared (my friend had mud thrown on her) even AFTER we said we just want to relax. My friends legs were overly touched at the front which made her feel super uncomfortable.
The tunnels were tight which was okay (not for the claustrophobic) and the mini falls were great but we just didn't need the desperate attempts of entertainment. There was constant noise from the chaperones. We are 2 x 30-something year old women who just want to enjoy the surrounds of the Ubud jungle without being screamed at by 2 over excited guys.
We didn't mind being chaperoned and appreciated the heads up (pun not intended) about laying back during the experience due to very low overheads, but we were just battling for peace. We asked for relaxed. They understood yet still terrorised us.
Prior to the activity we were carted in our swimmers and protective wear (life jacket and helmet) to the start spot on a busy Ubud road. We felt so exposed and vulnerable in our bikinis with locals looking at us. The food after was average.
This might be okay for teens, bucks, or a young family but we do not recommend this to people looking to relax and enjoy the jungle in peace.
We are still on edge from the experience hours on. The staff need to listen to...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience here! The staff are so friendly and so much fun! They made us laugh as well as tell us lots of local information about the caves and how they were created during World World 2 by the Japanese soldiers. Argus and Putu were our lovely guides. It had rained a lot the night before and so we were a little concerned about the safety with rising river levels however our Tour Guide from Jegeg Bali Bicycle Tours assured us that this is a smaller river system that comes from a dam where they can control the water flow and the river itself is not deep and very safe. We honestly just had the best time!!! It’s very calm and relaxing - definitely not an adrenaline activity! It’s an interesting drive from where we were staying at Nusa Dua as you get to see so much of Bali along the way. We also got some delicious Mee Goreng after our tubing which was a lovely surprise. There are lots of tubing companies but we will return here and always recommend...
