So another visit to Southeast brewing and another disasterous, calamatious evening of bad service and ineptitude.
I have not posted bad reviews of my experiences in the past because I genuinely like the wait staff and the bartenders. The product and setting are second to none in Bali... but I will be unlikely to come back despite all the positives due to the absolute incompetence of the Manager on Duty.
Not that I would expect the cost of a dish to influence the way it is delivered but you would think if you were ordering the most expensive thing on the menu it would at least arrive... Even late is ok, but not at all is bewildering. This was not the case tonight. After ordering two barbecue platters only the second one that was ordered arrived. After questioning this we approached the wait staff and the manager who informed me that two platters were never ordered. Unusual... Especially considering both Platters had different requirements and the order was repeated back to us, and the missing order was placed first. After discussing this with the manager we were asked if we would like to cancel the order. Pretty hard to cancel an order that according to your own manager was never ordered in the first place.
20 minutes later, unprompted, she came to the table with the order. So now the staff have lost out on service charge from an order that was never processed plus there is wastage from food that was erroneously delivered.
Yes I probably should have and could have left the issue there but when I was leaving I heard the Manager start talking behind my back. The thing about being a person that has lived in Bali for over 10 years is that you know the local language. When you start to talk about customers in a derogatory way, when everything that has transpired is your fault shows an absolute lack of leadership and professionalism. You should be ashamed for the way that you acted and the things that you said when everything could have avoided by you being a little bit more proactive and competent.
When I asked the Manager what they were going to do to avoid the situation for future customers, the manager asked me to train her in what should be done. These sort of glib and smart ass answers are indicative of your incompetence.
Unfortunately this is just another reason to stop spending my money at this venue, which has had an obvious and massive drop off in patronage. There are such other places as Black Sand Brewery which are much more deserving of patronage and loyalty.
I hope the South East owners act on this most recent of...
Read moreWent here to try the draft craft beer and was disappointed. Tried five different beers and they were all flat? How do they expect people to drink flat beer with not enough carbonation? The beer would have already lost it head as it arrived at our table. I have worked as a bartender in bars and nightclubs and know how craft beer should be maintained and presented to the customer. Spoke to the manager, who said "I'll check" and then just ran away and never came back to us, until my girlfriend approached him to follow up. For me the problem is that they are a new business (3 months old), serving too many beers on tap. They have 24 choices! Of course they cannot all be fresh, when they have so many beers, many of which I'm sure are selling slowly? Draft beer needs to be selling continuously in order to be fresh and maintain the required amount of carbonation in the beer. I believe alot of their beers are just sitting there for too long? Why not just offer 6 or 8 choices that can all sell well and be consistently fresh and have the required amount of carbonation? The food was really nice but the beer just let our experience down. In the end we decided to leave and go to black sand brewery in Canggu. Sorry guys but their beer is much better than yours, simply because its fresher and has more carbonation. They have 9 beers on tap which I think makes alot more sense than 24! Also they charge 85k ++ for 500 ml of draft beer and you charge 80k ++ for 420 Mls. Overall it's not hard to see why they are busy and you were not last night. I think if you could fix the carbonation problem of your beer then you could do well there. As well as the really nice food, the building is nice and new and the rice field location is beautiful. I will keep an eye on reviews from others and will come back if the beer improves. Sorry if you think I'm being harsh, but I'm just trying to be honest and...
Read moreThe good: Nice selection of beers. Nice place. Lots of potential hence the detailed review.
The bad: Small glasses. The prices may well be higher than elsewhere given the smaller quantity though there are some decent beers with strength that are a bargain, definitely better value for some.
The thing that irked me most is if needs a huge improvement in service. While the staff are friendly at the bar absolutely no one looks to see if anyone needs a beer. They must lose a fair amount of custom that way. You can't even flag the staff down they busy talking with each other or using the phone or just looking into space. It was 25% full, I can't imagine if it's busy.
Ordered food 25 minutes ago still not here. Empty glass sat at table staff are everywhere else. I notice the other guy across same issue, so he goes directly to the bar and has to take all his stuff with him as you do if there is no one to look after it, and risk losing your table. Just left mine empty until I had to ask for my food then I'd order my last.
Long long way to go to reach the standards of the forge sadly.
I will come back but it needs a lot of work before I attempt again. Will check reviews often though. Lots of potential, I'm sure it's a bit hit and miss, you could have a great night or just a terrible one with no service.
Nitpicking now. If there were two of you you got a free desert for sharing. Never mind I normally sink a million or 2 on a decent session, there has to be 2 of you. Well. I went to forge to spend the...
