Vittoria Italian Bistro — Restaurant in Bali

The short story: If you’re reading this searching for a good restaurant, stop now, you found it. Go to Vittoria right now it’s amazing! The long story: We accidentally stumbled upon this place last night when we were looking for a place to have a cup of coffee. The second we sat down I saw that the chef was Italian, and I knew we had to try some of the food. So despite just having had dinner an hour before we ordered the gnocchi. We were impressed by the complimentary welcome bread and olive oil. Extremely rare to see in Indonesia. Also complimentary first bottle of water. Never seen this anywhere in Indonesia. The tax and service charge are also included in the prices on the menu. All of these small things really add up to show that the owner cares about his guests and sees them as more than just someone to squeeze money out of. When the food came we were extremely impressed by the authentic flavors and the large portions. Definitely good value. The chef came by to make sure everything was to our liking and I asked him some questions about his restaurant. It’s easy to see that he is passionate about cooking and realizing his dream of owning a restaurant here in Bali. As I’m writing this we are back the next morning for lunch after a late dinner last night. I’m sure we will be back many times after. We love this little slice of Italy! At first the owner was kind enough to accommodate us by adding a table from the next door restaurant. We ordered our food but we weren’t told it would take 50 minutes for the food to come.

After asking 3x, we finally got our food. My friend’s meatballs weren’t well cooked and my spaghetti was stuck in one clump. It also had barely any salt. When I told the owner he snapped. He said he cannot be harsh on his staff?! There was no apology at first and when I said you will lose customers he said “look around the restaurant is full”.

He later apologized when my friend spoke to him. He charged 50% for my food and for my friend’s food (which given the long wait, the quality of food and the short temper should’ve been free).

If his kitchen can’t keep up with the orders it is better to turn customers away.

There is a reason this bistro has a 4.8 rating. The chef who is on site, the owner, is from Italy. Hands-on! I’ve had this dish, in many places throughout the world. This by far is, one of the best I’ve ever had. WOW WOW WOW!

Fresh ingredients, fresh seasonings, absolutely fantastic!. The salad, a simple oil and vinegar dressing, Italian style homemade delicious!

There are other more established, I guess you could say Italian restaurants throughout this part of Bali, I’ve been there I’ve tried them. They’re cooks, in the kitchen, not chefs! That is not the case with Vittoria, the chef is hands-on and it shows.
