Food - Though it could take quite a while for the food prep, food generally is yummy. Coffee here embraces Indonesian coffee/cafe culture. So if you are a coffee fanatic used to Australia/Japanese brews, I’d suggest to skip the coffee here.
Price - Price is quite steep especially for the Aburi Salmon Sushi as it came with thin small slices of salmon whereas the roll only contain a small portion of crab stick and cucumber. Except for the small portion, the sushi was yummy and highly recommended. Expected damage is around 150k-175k per person for food and drinks after tax.
Ambience - Enjoyed the peace and quite, with the greenery around it was a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The minimalist Japanese vibe also helps. As I came during lunch, it was too hot to hang at the bean bag area but I imagine the area would be a popular choice during dinner time. Parking can be a challenge too so be sure to head down early and secure a spot. There is a billiard table on the second floor and you can also buy fish food for 10k per bag to feed the Koi.

For example, when you orderes donburi, they'll serve you donburi+miso soup+ salad
The menus are expensive (95k-110k), but when they serve you side dishes, you'll feel better. We spent 400k for 2 menus+1 kid's menu (drinks included)
The whole atmosphere is nice. Open lounge with terraces facing a backyard amphitheater and koi pool on the first floor while on the second floor, you'll be to play bilyard.
You're not allowed to smoke inside the first floor open dining room, but is allowed to smoke on the terrace (beside the open dining room...a bit foolish I think), you're also allowed to smoke on the second floor.
The only thing I hate is the ceiling and the gimmick ramp that you could access after a couple step...
Read moreI think katta is the best cafe and restaurant in Balikpapan. They have very unique and authentic Japanese cafes and restaurants, from the interiors they use to the food they sell. They sell pretty good Japanese food, they have a children's food menu which is served with a dining area like a toy car shape and is very cute and interesting for children. Consisting of 3 floors, on the 2nd floor there is a billiard table that we can play with friends or family. On the ground floor, they have a bean bag area so we can sit in the bean bag provided. They also have private rooms with tv and you can karaoke with your friends or family. Overall all the food and drinks ordered were delicious, my favorite was the nachos, the nachos were different from the nachos that are usually...
