Resto Kentjana Jl. Suryakencana Bogor June 2019
Loh Mie Kentjana Babi for 50 K IDR++
At first glance it may not look appealing to those unaccustomed to Asian dishes, but rest assured that this dish and this restaurant is exemplary both in taste as well as in its use of the freshest ingredients. Their home made noodles are also worth mentioning for its springiness and bite that one won't get from instant noodles. Finally, one really has to appreciate just how well this restaurant cooks the dish so much so that they did not need to use any flavour enhancers - a very welcome fact for those of us who prefer the fresher taste.
They also serve a chicken version, but really i think pork goes much better with the shrimp and fish balls than chicken ever would. I love the fact that the shrimp is not rubbery at all and that even the fish balls were better than most others. The pork slices were plentiful, fresh, and tender they almost melt in your mouth. Oh, and this was a seriously big bowl which would probably feed 1.5 normal person, so do come with an appetite. It is definitely more than worth its asking price and the chili sauce is definitely the best of its kind i have ever found - do be warned that it really does pack a punch, so be careful.
I really don't think i can sing enough praises for this place, especially with how @babamardilim would greet each and every single customer who comes in and is so knowledgeable about the history of Bogor's China town. The decor is also a testament to that heritage and i love how the walls were lined with so many old pictures of Bogor. One would be hard pressed to find a more comfortable-yet-still-true-to-its-Chinese-eatery-feel restaurant.
I will definitely come back again someday and try their scrumptious looking fried rice. A must visit if you are ever in Bogor!!
Thank you @kampoengbogor for leading me to this hidden gem.

Read moreWas here for early lunch, the only customer. Has no parking space, but everyone park by the street. Rather dark inside, but clean and very old Indo-Chinese style interior. Rather small place, would be awkward to bring big group here (as old chinese family usually do). No AC, gonna be stuffy with crowds.
Menu was written in old Indonesian language, needs some adjustment to get the meaning. Anyway, I like the meticulous way each dish was explained. Had Mie Medan, Guo Tie, and a glass of plain iced tea, payed 81K total with taxes. Adequate price, IMO. The noodle was their specialty, homemade and fresh, rather small but really tasty. The dish was great, if only they add the tasty little pork toppings... Guo Tie was chicken filling, not quite my taste, but still good. Will return to try...
Read moreNice place. (Note for the owner: please don't let any sellers from outside to come inside the restaurant to offer the customers food/snacks to buy. Thank you.) They have a gallery of old pictures decorating the walls. The food in the menu looks appetizing, and it has lots of pork dish. They sell beer where you could get them from the refrigerator near the register. I bought "Nasi Campur" and it was good. I wish I could explain more about the food, but it was my first time visiting that restaurant, so I couldn't. I'll come to visit...
