This quirky and delightful museum is a must for anyone interested in landscapes, soils and agroecology/tech. Just across the road from the Bogor Botanical Gardens, it is a nice addition to the itinerary of visitors to the garden. Unfortunately, the soils section (the best part) was closed for renovation on our second visit (September 2024) so we didnt see the monoliths again but lots of other stuff to see. The nice young folk working there are very happy to guide and seem to like answering questions. English proficiency is mixed but thats what google translate is for. Similarly, most signage is Bahasa only. After looking down from the rooftop of the museum, when you leave the museum complex go around the corner and immerse yourself in the local market (and enjoy the dose of reality, maybe buy some mangoes!). For some people this museum will be homely comfort, for others a door to another way of seeing the world. Pretty...
Read moreNice museum and free of charge. There are so many rock and soil collection inside. But, all of the information is Indonesian. I hope they provide English version since thereare some foreigners visit this museum. I am disappointed because I entered the museum at 3pm and the security said it has been closed, not same as the information in google maps that written it is closed at 4pm. So, I cannot access the agriculture show room. The security said the museum has to be cleaned so they close earlier than the schedule. But, I think if you want to close the museum at 3pm just give the same...
Read moreFree entrance just register at the lobby. The guard will guide you. Really resourcefull if you like to learn. They have many soil profiles its advantages and disadvantages, and how to make it productive. The stones collection is quit a lot but not every stone has label and description. The south wings exhibit insects and creatures live in the soil. So many samples but it's pity there is no description about the contribution of each creature to the existence of soil. Don't have time to check agriculture museum. I will return and...
