Location : Cisauk, Tangerang, Banten Indonesia Soto Betawi Djimat has been around for a dozen years. The main menu choices are “Sop,” “Soto” and “Oseng”. At lunch time it is usually filled with office employees and students around this area.
The shop is simple, with a long table attached to the front and a wooden table and chairs for about 40 seats on the inside. When you enter the shop, you immediately feel a little stuffy and warm. There is only a fan that blows a little breeze.
The main menu is Soto Daging, Soto Ayam, Soto Campur, Sop Daging, Sop Campur, Oseng Daging, Oseng Campur dan Sop Iga Sapi. Warung Soto Bewati Djimat has been around for 11 years, so some of the visitors are loyal customers.
Soto Betawi has coconut milk soup, fresh milk soup or a combination of both. Soto Betawi with milk soup is usually added with ghee. This version of Soto is an influence from Arab or Middle Eastern cuisine. While the coconut milk soup is white and some is added with spices so that the color is yellow-orange and the taste is a little spicy.
We want to taste the mixed soto and stir-fried meat again at this shop. Served in a bowl, the mixed soto oozes the savory aroma of meat. The surface is covered with a slightly orange yellow gravy with a sprinkling of chips and fried shallots.
It needs to be stirred so that all the additional spices are dissolved and the chips and tomatoes are a little limp. The thin aroma of cardamom smells good, and the coconut milk sauce is not too thick. Medium savory with a slightly spicy mix of spices.
The cuts of beef are tender, as are the medium-cut iso, kikil and tripe. With lime juice, a little sweet soy sauce and lime juice, it tastes even better. Savory, slightly spicy, sour and sweet. For those who like strong savory, this soup may not be thick enough.
While Oseng Meat can be chosen served with clear broth or coconut milk. We chose to enjoy Oseng Meat with a light clear sauce. This stir-fried dish is usually an additional menu at several Soto Betawi stalls in the South Tangerang area.
The ingredients are beef stew that is cut into thin slices. Can be mixed with gravel and beef offal. Then the meat is sauteed with sliced red onion and green chilies which are roughly sliced until the meat is slightly dry.
The aroma of sautéed red onions is strong when the Oseng Meat is served with the clear gravy. The meat is tender and even more delicious because there is an interlude of slightly charred fat. Plus crispy spicy cayenne pepper and fresh red onion. This is a light version of Betawi dish that is delicious to be enjoyed warm.
The broth is in the form of beef broth, slightly browned with a sprinkling of fried shallots and spring onions. Freshly inhaled warm, after the tongue is stung by the spicy cayenne pepper. Can also be sprinkled over rice to 'push' the stir-fried meat into the...
Read moreThe overrated warung makan. There's 3 main dishes: soto betawi, sop bening, and oseng-oseng. You can choose the soup, with coconut milk (santan) or the clear one (no santan). Even for oseng-oseng you get a bowl of soup.
In case of price, hmm... Too much much over pricey. Harganya terlalu mahal, porsinya dikiit banget. In my opinion, it is concluded too expensive for only small portion. Even without rice, the price is still high. You can count how many slices of beef, chicken, or babat in one portion. That's why, I think they must be feel lonely coz not many of them in a dish.
In term of tastes, well i think the taste is just so so. Rasanya B aja. Nothing more. For me, it doesn't make you want to have the second bowl. You might get better tastes with much cheaper price at many other food street vendors. The soup itself tastes ordinary, no specific or unique taste you can explore more.
The service also needs improvement as well as its cleanliness. And don't forget, with that not-cheap price, the consumers deserve more...
Read morethis humble warung serves up some of the most satisfying bowls of Soto Betawi you’ll find around. The menu offers a solid variety—from classic soto and sop to rich oseng—with your choice of tender beef, flavorful offal, or chicken.
What sets this place apart is the broth: creamy from coconut milk with a delightful punch of spices, yet still light enough to enjoy until the last spoonful. The balance of savory, aromatic flavors makes every bite comforting, especially when paired with rice or crispy emping. Their perkedel kentang also a must try.
One thing to keep in mind, though, visiting around midday can be a bit of a challenge due to the heat. The open setup means there’s some heat you can get from the street, so it can get quite warm. That said, the food more than makes up for it. If you're a fan of traditional Indonesian comfort food, this warung is definitely...
