Dominico Coffee — Restaurant in City of Medan

This place is one of my go-to place whenever I want to escape rush hour during my stay in Medan. Their ambient is the selling point as the trees giving you shade from scorching sun and absorbing noise.

So I come to this place in 2 consecutive days: to dine-in and to redeem their free voucher the day after having dine-in. 1st day experience is smooth as butter but 2nd day says the otherwise. I have to wait 20 minutes to get my take-away order…after the barista accidentaly saw my face and hummed “oh…”, giving a hint that she forgot my order.

It’s early in the morning, not even a peak hour. There’s only one table filled in this morning. Too much chit-chatting in the kitchen perhaps. And there’s no single word of “sorry” I heard today.

Green, breeze and refreshing. It's like walking into a hidden path of secret garden. The non coffee beverages taste like the ambiance of the place. Coffee is alrite. Not as strong as I expected but the taste is good enough for me. Not a place to come if you are hungry though. This is a perfect place for a quick escapede in the hectic of busy city. Even in daytime, it felt good sitting under the shades of the trees and smart move from the owner to install a blower up. Short coming is if it's raining. Cuz this place is completely outdoor except two tables next to the counter. Wifi is fast, and you could pay with e-money like shoppeepay and ovo. Plus, there are two spots for love birds....

Donatnya empuk, manis dengan taburan gula halus, hangat pula! Kombinasi dengan matcha latte nya yang hangat, benar-benar pas untuk menghabiskan waktu di kala hujan. Setelah menambah roti bakar srikaya yang tebal, saya masih berniat untuk duduk di sana. Benar-benar ingin menikmati me time. Akan tetapi, mood saya seketika berantakan ketika ada seorang tamu yang duduk dan langsung merokok. Begitu ia nyalakan rokoknya, seketika rombongan yang duduk di samping saya (persis di samping perokok tak tahu diri itu) segera angkat kaki. Terlihat jelas mereka pergi karena rokok itu. Saya pun tentu kesal, sebab saya bukan perokok. Saya sampaikan ke perokok itu agar berkenan mematikan rokoknya.

Saya sempat sampaikan ke staf di sana agar meminta pengunjung untuk tak merokok dahulu, karena lebih banyak tamu yang tidak nyaman dengan asap rokok. Saya paham kafe itu ruangan terbuka. Siapapun bebas untuk merokok. Tetapi saya mohon sekali, agar staf juga paham mana yang prioritas dan penting. Saat itu hanya ada tiga meja yang berfungsi. Dua meja segera kosong hanya gara-gara seorang perokok. Yang bikin saya semakin kesal, tanggapan yang diberikan oleh staf yang saya ajak bicara, malah cenderung membela perokok itu. Yang membuat saya lebih baik angkat kaki saja segera.

Kalau boleh saya sarankan, meski hak semua orang untuk merokok, namun hak semua orang pula untuk mendapatkan udara segar bebas asap rokok. Karenanya, mohon diatur posisi meja agar para perokok bisa diposisikan terpisah dengan wilayah bebas asap rokok. Saya rasa itu bisa menjadi win-win solution.

Panganannya enak. Dan saya akui itu. Saya pun tentu ingin lagi datang ke sana. Tapi ya itulah, kejadian rokok itu yang membuat penilaian...
