Went there on Saturday for lunch as a group of 3 adults. We were the first customer for that day at 12.45pm. We ordered 3 main course, which came with designated sides, so no options for sides. The bill excluding drink was 832k IDR.
For 5.5% service tax charged, I’d say the waiters need more knowledge and conduct training. When asked about some menus or ingredients, the waiter that served us said she did not know and did not show any effort to find out. The attitude of the waiter was quite rude, I’d say. One of the waiter did not approach our table as we call for waiter, but decided to shout from her station which was around 7-8 meter from our table. We were quite flustered but then thankfully, her other friend took charge.
The pork rib meat was tender and juicy, but the sauce was too sweet and salty. I need to ask extra lime to tone down the taste.
The steak was well cooked and tasted delicious, but the salad had too much mayonnaise dressing.
The burger was quite delicious, the potato wedges was enjoyable.
Overall, the meal was decent. Is it worth the price? I need to say no. Will I come again? Considering the experience I had...
Read moreMaybe the only halfway authentic German sausage haus in Medan. The menu is pricey but their entrees are basically pure meat - and pork at that, something harder to come by in Medan. A selection of German beers and a few cocktails available to round out the menu options.
Service can be lackluster but this is often a trait of Medan culture that not all Westerners understand or appreciate. If you want something, ask. If you need the bill, ask. Don't wait for them to come check on you because they probably won't - that's just restaurant culture here. It's a very social culture and the expectation is you may sit at your table for an hour or two and talk - they aren't going to bother you (or try to upsell you on another round of drinks!).
The night I visited the place was empty, but they're set up for live music and can accommodate a pretty good-sized crowd. A good option on payday if you're craving German-style pork sausages and other...
Read moreTried the (1) smoked ham fried rice and (2) german mixed platter, here's what I think.
The fried rice was quite tasty, big portion, could taste the smokey flavors from the ham, but the price is quite high (maybe because of the ham).
Mix platter was quite good, but I think price is abit too high for the portion. But the taste is good, quality is not bad, except the garlic bread is unnecessary (should take out 1/2 of the portion and change to meat) would be a better value.
So overall, a good experience but not your every day food (400++ for two person), service is nice 4/5, for me personally the atmosphere / music is too dark...
