Italian restaurant offering an authentic vibe and decent food at high prices. Cash & credit cards as well as e-wallet payments accepted. Reservations a good idea for weekend nights.
I was impressed first off with the ambiance of this place. From the textured stucco walls to the large European-inspired artwork and the music, it exudes an Italian-esque vibe. It's not perfect, but they've gone to a lot of effort to create an aesthetic and the effort has not been wasted. Went on a Monday evening about 7pm and pretty much had the place to ourselves. It's obvious their aim is to create an upscale experience but sadly for my visit that aim fell short after the initial appreciation of the decor.
Service was not exactly warm. Not sure if she was new or put off because we're obviously foreigners or what, but the main waitress barely spoke, even when asked a question. One of the other servers at least smiled and exuded a little enthusiasm. Hopefully just an off night.
The menu offers a variety of pizzas, pastas, and meat dishes if you're having a second course (or want to skip the pasta dishes). I didn't see beer or wine or cocktails on the menu (but just might have missed that section) but soft drinks, teas and maybe a few juices. The seafood pasta was fine if not memorable. Sauce wasn't overly sweet (a risk in Medan for marinara sauces). Good amount of clams (in the shell) and a few prawns (not shelled, which make them impossibly messy to eat) along with a few squid rings. A large portion.
Caesar salad is quite basic but satisfactory - iceburg lettuce and a quartered tomato along with what looked like the ends of cherry or grape tomatos. The dressing was watery and a little strong on the anchovy taste but it was still fresh and large enough to share. The meal is preceded by a few very thin, crisp breadsticks along with oil and balsamic vinegar.
Food was fine but not exceptional, ambiance was good, service was off, and prices are high by Medan standards (but less off-putting when compared to other Italian places). This is a nice place for a quiet dinner (at least when it's empty - it may echo a bit...
Read moreWent to this place for brunch with family, it was empty at first, quite confusing at start bit the waiter was friendly. Gave us almost worn out menu and then gave some suggestion while we order the food. Not all the menu are available during our visit. Tried to order some beef lasagna but they only have pork instead which was not in the menu book but at the promo table stand. Quite disappointed when my margerita pizza came out without basil leaves on it. None the less, it was good pizza. The lasagna was quite dry at the bottom, my guess it was not made daily. My kid said it tasted better then pizza h*t's lasagna which we had couple days ago. The calzone was a bit undercooked, my wife just had a couple bites of it and that's it. Take away bag, here we go....
For drinks they only have tea and beers, moctails was not available during our visit. But we can order drinks from other tenants in the building.
Ambience is good with old look of some European vibe. Over all, I give 4 stars...
Read moreUsually only give review when i dine in. This case is exceptional. I visited this place when they were in jl uskup agung. It was nice. I am never been so let down by a pizza delivered to super starving me. Lost my appetite right away after i open the box. Its horror! Totally not a neatly packed pizza. The base board is not food grade. Its like a piece of corrugated board used to make instant noodle box and it sticks like paper pulp to the pizza's base. The pizza itself taste bad. Asked for parmesan and pepper powder, but they only give tiny bit of pepper and no parmesan. A lil suggestion for the person in charge, do order from other pizzeria and compare to yours. Am so not going...
