Went there twice in a week because the first time was good. The servings were generous and fairly priced, and the dishes were well made. The steamed and ‘bakar bumbu’ fish were amazing. The fish were fresh and they melted in my mouth. So we decided to come back.
However, in my second visit many of the dishes were disappointing. We were recommended fried ronggeng prawns, but the way it was cooked destroyed the prawn’s texture and actual flavour. So we paid IDR 600k for badly made fried prawns. We also ordered shrimp omelette but it tasted funny like it’s already going bad. When I inquired about the shrimp, the waitress, she told me that indeed the shrimp was no longer alive when they came in, unlike the fish and the other seafood.
Cleanliness was not great. Moreover, safety was also an issue. When we dined the air conditioner compressor leaked gas and it freaked everyone out because we thought that it was a petroleum gas leak. There would’ve been explosions or fire since we could see flames in the open kitchen. However, instead of calming everyone down, the waiters just played it down. Definitely was not a great dining experience.
Definitely ask 1) whether the seafood came in alive, fresh, or frozen; 2) if not alive, when they were caught or how long have they been keeping the seafood there; 3) what’s the best way to cook the dish that highlights its texture and flavour; 4) how much they are and how big the serving would be so there’ll be...
Read moreMy relatives suggested this seafood resto as a must visit place in bali Well, its over-rated based on my first time experienced here. Why? It said fresh-live seafood. Well it is. But THE SEASONING AND THE COOKING METHOD WAS FAR FROM GOOD. MOST OF THE SEAFOOD HERE ARE UNDERCOOKED / not fully done cooked. Which is for some customer like me we dont like that. (If its the restaurant style, unfortunately, the staff didnt tell us in advance)
We Ordered squid with padangnese sauce, i still can taste rawness of the sauce 🥴 and also ordered sunu fish grilled, and it taste less seasoning, like only the surface that is grilled. And also orderd boiled shell, and it served undercooked, bcs there’s still blood on the plate🤢 Its a much much pricey for a food experience like that. And the staff was not quite proper on explaining what they sell here. Like i asked how big one portion on ayam ketumbar, she couldnt answered and passed it to other staff, and the other one couldnt explained it too, until the senior one (?) came 😅. I guess management should train/educate more of their employees. Like if its the restaurant style to cook like that level (undercooked/medium rare) then the staff HAS TO inform the customer.
Ps: I Did told the staff when we are about to pay the bill about the food experience we had. I didnt have the chance to take any pics, bcs the...
Read moreI came here together with my wive because my friend said it's good. I didn't expect they only have tables for large groups, they don't have table for 2, so me and my wive sit at a table for 8, lol. Lucky for us, we usually order many things so we do need a big table. The waitress was a little bit concerned and she convinced us that our order is already too much 😅
They have the fresh seafood because they have their own pools to keep the fish, clams, crabs, lobsters, etc happy and alive.
We ordered lobster sashimi and the owner prepared it for us, they don't have any small lobster so we choose the smallest one but it was almost 2kg in weight.
We also ordered crab, some clams, shrimps, squid, fish, etc. The taste is just okay in my opinion, maybe because they don't use too much salt or MSG (which is good) but I don't think they substitute it enough with other spices, so I can recommend HTP to those who have concerns about MSG 👍🏻
Price wise, if you compare them with local seafood restaurant in Jakarta, HTP is a little bit more expensive. But if you compare it to Bali Jimbaran's seafood (without counting the beach and sunset experience), this is waayyyy more better in...
