Massimo Gelato Seturan (MSM) — Restaurant in Depok

Delicious Gelato with lots of flavors.

Unfortunately, when I visited this place (on 11 or 12 of August 2022), I was expecting a nice and cozy place to enjoy this kind of dessert, but all I found was a messy place in front of the shop. There was only one wooden table with 3 benches. I believe that there's still a cozy area upstairs, but the stairs access was blocked by maybe 5-6 persons were talking in a group, one is a foreigner and the others are maybe local students. Don't say about having an access to go upstairs, I didn't even feel comfortable choosing some of gelato variants. And also, I couldn't find any other side menu as it shown on Gmaps before.

But I wish this Gelato shop is going better now.

Just getting there in a week, the shophouse is at the very end of the row of shophouses, and the parking space is quite spacious because joined with other spaces. I love the quite place and you can enjoy the gelato peacefully haha.

In front of the shophouse, they’re provided chairs and tables for customers to eat there. I chose some variants and surprisingly the taste is very good! I recommend this to you who want to get some desserts in Yogyakarta. This branch is for gelato production and a mini store.

Other than that, the owner is like to chit-chat with the customers and share his thoughts, and his experience in gelato making, and also very nice and friendly. Not only eat gelato but you can get a ‘weighty’ talk even if only...

Pertama mencicipi gelato tuh sekitar tahun 2010 di Jogja dan gelato pertama tersebut menjadi gelato favorit di antara banyak gelato yang kemudian bermunculan di Jogja. Waktu Massimo buka di Jogja, saya sempat kurang tertarik ke sana. Tapi saat itu, Juli 2019, saya lagi pergi weekend sore dan lalu lintas Jogja kota sedang penuh2nya. Akhirnya terlintas di pikiran pengen ngadem dulu dari kemacetan, trus memutuskan untuk ngadem di Massimo Gelato ini saja. Waktu baca alamatnya di sosmed, Massimo ini ada di Kota Baru, dan saya sudah memperkirakan kalau tempatnya akan kurang maksimal mengingat daerah tersebut memang rata2 rumah2 besar. Benar saja, tempatnya ada di pekarangan sebuah rumah dan ruang duduknya ada dua bagian, yang satu dengan bean bag dan yang satu lagi dengan tempat duduk berpayung. Saya pesan gelato yang menurut saya harganya cukup menyenangkan karena 1 cup/cone mini seharga 20k bisa dapat 2 rasa. Buat orang yang tidak terlalu suka manis, menurut saya 2 rasa atau 2 scoop itu sudah pas, kalau kalap beli yang large bisa eneg sendiri dan ujung2nya malah nggak habis. Untuk rasa ada macam2, waktu itu saya milih salted caramel sama cerry vanilla kalau tidak salah (sudah lupa). Pas nyicip, menurut saya gelato Massimo ini pas rasanya, tidak terlalu manis dan kekentalannya nggak over, karena ada beberapa gelato yang padat sekali teksturnya, kalau saya pribadi sih lebih suka agak light teksturnya jadi nggak eneg atau full di perut. Ada yang unik yang bikin saya geli, yaitu design cupnya, hmm mengingatkan saya sama permen buah waktu kecil. Di luar perkiraan banget sih ditengah persaingan design packaging kekinian yang biasanya lebih menonjolkan warna pastel atau lettering ciamik, design karakter buah2an ini bikin ketawa :D. Tapi soal rasa, fix menjadi salah satu gelato favorit saya sejauh ini. Lalu kalau tidak salah untuk air mineral tidak free, karena saya lihat tidak ada dispenser yang disediakan untuk minum, lagipula waktu itu juga saya tidak terlalu eneg jadi nggak nyari air mineral. Mungkin kalau free air mineral dan tempatnya lebih nyaman bakal lebih enak lagi jajan di sini he he. Good luck Massimo! :-)
