After a long 3 hr motorbike ride across Flores we chose Atlantis On The Rock for our last special treat before we caught our flight home. I had seen the photos, heard of it's reputation and was ready to be wowed! We had a false start as Google maps directed us to a dead end, along the coast line, ending up on the other side of a fence to the restaurant, so we had to turn around and try again. Not what we needed after a long ride, but I was sure it was going to be worth it! When we arrived at about 1pm, the view was stunning, and even though it was a warm day the open air restaurant was shady and just cool enough and the chairs comfortable. The big disappointment was the menu. We were ready to eat a feast, but there was nothing on the menu we could eat except for potato chips. OK silly me, I should have checked, I should have realised, it seems the menu is focused on seafood and we don't eat seafood, and the only vegetarian dish wasn't available as they had run out of avocados. So we thought OK let's go straight for desert, but that wasn't available either. The next problem was the service. While there was a lot of staff, they were all trainees and couldn't help us or understand what we were asking for, or in one case ran away to avoid helping (at that point I just needed the wifi password). In the end, feeling very frustrated, I got up and went to the bar to talk to the manager. After some time someone was found and I asked with such a beautiful restaurant, and huge kitchen with a wonderful cook, couldn't they prepare something, anything vegetarian? I was then told that they could make a vegetable Thai curry. Yes please! It was delicious. I would highly recommend they add this and a couple of other vegetarian dishes to their menu, as there are always people in a group who can't eat seafood. In the end we were really sad that we couldn't come and just enjoy a long beautiful indulgent lunch while we waited for our flight, instead it left us hot...

We decided to go for dinner here while staying at a different resort because we heard very positive things about this restaurant. The restaurant has different seating options, and also offers various packages with tge seating options. We didn’t opt for a package as we wanted a full dinner. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 17:00 and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We got a table near the front, with a beautiful view and ordered some cocktails and water. The cocktails were okay, but nothing exceptional. We then took a stroll on the pier which belongs to the restaurant and also fed the fish by the pier (there are feeding stations along the pier). Upon returning to our table we had our appetizers and they were okay but not particularly special. We they wanted to order the main course but many options were unavailable. There was no lobster, no barracuda, and only grouper available as the only fish option. This was disappointing to us. We ordered our mains and then enjoyed the beautiful view some more. The main courses were good, but not the best we had in Labuan Bajo. The presentation and flavor simply aren’t of the standard you would expect in a hotel like this. Unfortunately the restaurant plays music rather loudly so you cannot hear the waves from the beach below. Indonesians seem to enjoy the music, as this is common in most restaurants. We found it a pity not being able to listen to the waves. That said we will come back for the view, the ambience, and the staff. View: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Ambience:...

Top Notch!

Atlantis on the Rock, served by Plataran Komodo, offers a delightful culinary experience that perfectly balances freshness and flavor. The prawn mango salad stands out with its vibrant zest and slight acidic tang, complemented by the freshness of the prawns, making it a refreshing starter that awakens the palate. The Udang Pasir Labuan Bajo is truly memorable—each prawn is impeccably fresh, showcasing the quality and care in sourcing local seafood, leaving a lasting impression on the taste buds.

The beverage selection is equally impressive, with the dragon fruit juice being a highlight. Served without added sugar, it provides a naturally sweet and refreshing taste that soothes the throat and cleanses the palate, making it an ideal accompaniment to the meal.

Ambience at Atlantis on the Rock is elegant yet relaxed, perfectly suited for a serene dining experience. The setting evokes a tropical charm with tasteful decor and gentle lighting, creating a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the enjoyment of the food and drink. Attentive service by Plataran Komodo staff adds a personal touch, making the overall experience both comfortable and memorable. This combination of fresh flavors, refreshing drinks, and inviting ambience makes Atlantis on the Rock a must-visit...

They say it's the best place to see the sunset in the Labuan Bajo, and I am impressed! Not only do they have an excellent view, but the food is also nicely made. This place is in the same group as Plataran Komodo, and while we were there, we ordered mocktails first, Atlantis Special and Spicy Vanilla, while looking over the sunset. Then for the meal, Bola-bola Cokro as an appetiser, Udang Sriwedari and a Grilled Baracudda as our main, then Pisang Onte-Onte. Highly recommend making a reservation first, especially if you want to come in around sunset time. If you're planning to come in for dinner, opt for an indoor seat or near the indoor area, as in the evening, sometimes when it's the season, there’s a flying moth around (laron).

Embarrassing that they have this regarding ecotourism when they restrict access to swimming to guests only in the resort. You can't even buy a drink or food and then swim, it's only if you stay here. Great if you stay here, but what about locals who wish to access part of their own island? How does this elite privilege equal ecotourism? You can swim in the same sea but access via pantain waecici, there is rubbish in the sea from all points including Atlantis. Sad to see the foreign tourism development creating such a divide, I hope there are other parts of the island that set a different example.

Best view ever. The location is quite far from the town but worth to get here. It takes approximately 20-30 mins. They also have several rooms and villas. Food taste was plain for Indonesian. They use corn straws so it means they really care about the environment. The staff was friendly. I met Richard from marketing team there and help me to look around. There are two atlantis in Labuan Bajo but Atlantis on the rock just got the best ambience and indulging my eyes.
