Update: still the best K-BBQ chain restaurant, extra points for having a branch near home! Banchan aplenty and consistent in quality meat & meal.
Haven't been back to Bornga in a long while so decided to pay them another visit. The few times we did go were with friends and bigger group setting so didn't quite enjoy the optimum Korean BBQ experience. This time was just us and it was goooodddddd.
Compared to other BBQ places nearby, immediately what we noticed was the limited amount of banchan (side dishes). But what they lacked in variety, they sure made up in taste and quality! We were surprised every single thing tasted fresh and superb. Even the usual complimentary jeon (fritters) were freshly made and still crunchy and not soggy like elsewhere. And then came the main course. We ordered Tang Syamgeopsal with special anchovy sauce from Jeju and back of neck pork. Both were grilled to perfection and still juicy but crispy when we wrapped them in the signature sam (leaves) plate Bornga put out. Amazing and portion was generous too. Ate them with mini size bibim nangmyeon (very cute) which comes with a side of hot broth but you could also request the cold version.
Can not remember the last time we had Korean BBQ this good. Very satisfied and we'll be back...

The staff directly suggest they do the grilling (which suppose we have option it to be grilled in front of us) but we again understood it near the closing time. So we enjoyed the banchan, which usually served more (assume it near closing time, again). I asked for more of some of the banchan, but they said they run out of them. Okay. We eat what we ordered, finish as fast as we can, the staff came for advance payment. No problem. But then they said they run out of the fruits. Nice. This point is not tolerable anymore. Very gracious indeed, they will add some more upon request🙏💓 Main course are superb. Meats are tender and juicy, you can choose to grill it in your table or at the side table.
