Went here last June for wedding food tasting and tasted some of their dishes. Was seated in this space and Mas Ade from Sales & Chef Reza was kind enough to give us 2 extra portions (while the food was originally only for 4 persons, so thank you!)
Rated from my most favorite one to least favorite one. Yangzhou fried rice: had enough seasoning with great color from the grated veggies, a little bit lacking of sesame oil & heat from pepper/chili but overall very acceptable Ikan dori sambal mangga: crunchy, meaty, a little bit sour, just enough heat and salt, perfect Beef Andaliman Salad: Just the right amount of acidity x veggies that youre looking for Grilled chicken: great color, enough seasoning but lacking of that 'kick' from extra spices Klepon cheesecake: fresh, foamy, light fusion cheesecake. Unfortunately when you pack it home it will turn into this wet and watery foam that doesnt have great texture of a dense cheesecake. Rather foamy and more of cream cheese rather than an actual dense cheesecake (especially since the klepon base was rather a bolu texture one) but overall just good.
Least fav ones: broccoli gratine: Lacking of texture. Other than the fact that the broccoli was bright green and crunchy, perfectly cooked, The bechamel covering the broccolis and the bland/tasteless taste was nothing to appreciate for. The cheese was not there and almost non existent, and the bechamel tasted more like a mix of flour and god knows what that created this mushy texture. Gotta switch the menu to the regular potato gratine (with more texture and taste/seasoning) immediately. Mushroom soup with truffle oil: was said to be one of their best tasting menu but honestly it was quite disappointing. I was expecting more of a runny mushroom soup with perfectly infused mushroom in it and also strong truffle fragrance but had none of them. The texture was more like a porridge and it was rather bland. Only helped by the crouton to add the flavor but it was a very minor help to the overall texture and taste.
We had to actually go there once again to order some of the dishes off Fraya menu: the gratine and fettuccine carbonara, and both of them were up to my standard. Creamy, al dente, fragrant, and flavorful. Gotta add a little bit more salt (I guess overall Aloft has this western palate to it with less salt?) to enhance the overall flavor but it was just personal preference. Had a mini chat with chef Vincent who was very kind to go to our table and asked us about the dish. Gave him some appreciation and note to the food, also to my future buffet menu on July 24. Dear Chef Vincent & Fraya, pleaseeee make sure that all the food served on my wedding will be top notch as I expected them to be. Sending you my biggest support and love everyday, and hoping that the food served on my big day will live up to me and my fams expectation. See...
