Honu Kemang — Restaurant in Jakarta

Poke has been gaining notice around the world, and it’s nice to be able to taste some of such bowls at Honu and have a healthy option for fast food which is packed with good fats.

We arrived for an early lunch on a Sunday, and there were only two groups of patrons, including us.

The space was nice and clean, and you can opt to sit on the couch for a cozier setting.

The order and payment is made at the counter, so it would probably best not to wait to decide what you want until arriving in front of the cashier; as it won’t be pleasant to have lines of people behind you waiting impatiently because you just can’t decide what to eat. :’D

We ordered Two & Two (salmon and tuna in creamy sauce, topped with wakame, lettuce, carrots, and tempura crunch), opted for sushi rice for him and brown rice for me.

The regular bowls came in decent sizes, and we enjoyed every bite. The ingredients were fresh, and the food was full of exciting textures.

We also ordered a glass of iced matcha and matcha lime soda which served as refreshing companions to our bowls.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Can’t wait to visit again and try the other items...

Been a great fan of their food since years ago. But quite dissapointed on how the service & food quality downgraded til now…

I came in Mar 2023 for dine-in after they did renovations on Kemang branch. Came alone with 0 expectation as their food was usually okay, yet they should improve on several things:

1. I HAD FLIES on my bowl, on top of my salmon:” found out quite late as i had finished 3/4 of my bowl. I didnt make a big deal on the place as (luckily) i’m not the type that easily grossed out. Yet, still i called one of the staff, told him i had flies on my salmon and i’m done with my meal. He doesnt even say sorry or anything, just took my bowl and then left. The salmon wasn’t as fresh as i expected as well

2. Staff was many, place was not that crowded (well, i can see some unoccupied seats). Yet the staff was not attentive or tend to speak in an unpleasant tone.. esp to Ojol driver queing on the cashier. I mean after all it is your customer as well?

With the reputations that Honu had built over the years, i wish they can improve the service & quality. Not sure if i’ll be coming back to Kemang branch/any...

Back to Honu for dine-in dinner.

Overall their quality was still top notch.

Wayo Bowl was newly introduced and it’s good if you like wasabi. He loves wasabi but still felt it’s a bit too spicy. Super Bowl was just okay despite its quality ingredients. Avocado was of lower quality though. Hot matcha ginger lemon was a winner. No complaint. Just a good job. Cold spiced matcha latte was underwhelming. Couldn’t taste anything other than watery soy milk and cinnamon. Was expecting bolder turmeric.

First time here, I went for Two and Two to-go, and it was perfect.

Staffs were nice, but I think it wouldn’t hurt to be friendlier towards go/grab-food drivers?

One question: is it possible to replace salmon with tuna? I find your tuna suits my palate...
