Pempek Palembang & Otak - Otak 161. This is a special restaurant that sells Fish cake and savory grill fish cake. The Fish cake its self is a traditional food from Palembang, South Sumatra Province. This Pempek(fish cake) is made in many shapes, which are the one with an egg inside called Pempek Kapal Selam or Submarine fish cake, Lenjeran (long fish cake), Ada-an (round fish cake) fish skin fish cake. It could be fried and served with slices of cucumber and sweet-sour sauce from tamarind fruit and sugar. But you can ask the steam one or eat with the soup known as Laksan, Tekwan, Celimpungan, Model, Burgo.
This restaurant occupied 2 shophouses, one for dining and cashier plus a rack of another side dishes from Palembang like fish and shrimp crackers, garlic peanut and the next one for the kitchen and dining room as well.

They have many variation of dish and snack made from fish cake base. Variant wise like empek-empek (fried or grilled), crackers, otak-otak, soup, martabak etc.
Taste is very good never change, portioning is wise not too big or too small, free flow sauce and shrimp powder (my favourite! Makes the food more nyummy). Another thing was, I don't know if this is just a quincideance or not but I always notice that everytime I dine-in here there was always foreigner (like Japanese and Korean), the taste and the spice level seems like fine for foreigner.

It is next to one of prominent food outlet in this legendary well known culinary district, "Ikan Nila Pak Ugi". As far as my experience, there are two other outlets in Radio Dalam District and Bintaro Jaya, South Jakarta. You may find variety of Pempek, in this not too small not too big resto in Kelapa Gading branch.
