Funny enough, we couldn't find parking for a restaurant we wanted one block down so decided to eat at Shao Kao instead where parking was still available. We had been here few times but ages ago before the pandemic.
Ordered several skewers and no rice as were trying to reduce carbs intake. It was a good decision as there were so many various items in the fridges to choose from. We took the pork samcan, bacon, sweet meat, kucai, corn, enoki ham and some others. Took first bite and immediately we wondered why we didn't come here more often.. It was delicious! We chose the original sauce which was sweet, salty and slightly spicy. You can choose just plain salty if you prefer it.
Then time to pay and I remembered why we're not regulars here 😂 it was quite expensive and our bill came to over 200K. Very surprising since we've had other grilled dinners nearby with steak quality at the same price. They do have a bca promo 25% discount but it doesn't apply for skewers, which is strange as that's what most people order. So yeah, probably won't be back again...

You can choose how they are cooked: grilled, boiled or sauté. Unless you really like salt, better order original grill. The salty ones are really really salty. 😝
Sautéd one is really something, you can add bihun or noodles. Be careful with its flavour. It is spicy and numb your tongue. It us like the spice is biting you back. 😲
They provide anything else: rice, noodles, beehun, kwayteow, porridge, fried snacks and beer. Juices and soft drinks are also available.
The nasi goreng is pretty descent. Nice one!
Overall: a bit pricey, but worth it.
The snack and beer offer - very affordable. Nice place to hang around...
Read moreMy favourite place. But quite disappointed on my last visit last Sunday. There are no sign that we could eat in there while all the tables on first floor are set to closed. While we were confuse on what's going on, suddenly there bunch of people come and direct talk to the waiters and asked to put their name in the waiting list. Guess what? They've got their table set first in upstairs while I came before them and just stuck still waiting... so unfair. The waiters should see who's coming first and at least they put the sign that if we want to eat in there we should let the waiters put our name on...
