I stayed here with my husband in April 2022 after not being able to come back home for 3 year because of Covid-19. During this time, the border was just opened. There are different restrictions for different hotels. We could only stay maximum 2 nights at Harris Kelapa Gading without having to do a PCR test. So we stayed here for 1 night after we arrived in Jakarta, went to Bandung the next day and came back 3 days after and stayed another 2 nights before having to move to another hotel as we don't want to do another PCR test for the sake of it, as we just did it 4 days earlier to fly to Indonesia.
Our first stay was good. Mostly no complaints other than the shower that always ended up flooding the bathroom due to the shower door seal isn't working properly, but I didn't appreciate the lie that they told us about the aircon on our second stay in able for them to not change our room. Hence the three stars in the end.
On our second stay, after travelling from Bandung. We checked in to a different room from our first stay. It was on the lower floor and right near the elevator this time. The room was warm, so turning on the aircon and set it to the lowest possible temperature we can set it which was 20 degrees. It was the first thing we did upon entering the room. We left not long after we put our belonging in our room to get some food from Kelapa Gading Mall next door. When we came back, the room was still warm at around 23-25 degrees even after the aircon has been on for a good 4-5 hrs by now. We thought it might be one of those aircon that has motion sensors. So we decided to move around and took a shower, but it didn't get any cooler. We called receptionist, they sent us a maintenance guy that cannot find anything wrong with the aircon. I requested another room as we find it hard to sleep in a warm room. The receptionist told us that they have been told by their maintenance team that the aircon in the hotel was set centrally to temperature between 23-25 degrees in all room. I questioned back asking "so what's the point of having a controller inside each room if that is the case? Our previous room was fine also."
Long story short, they finally agree to move us back to the room we stayed in on our first stay by 11pm, where the aircon managed to cool the room to 20 degrees.
Pros: Location was great. It is right next to a huge Kelapa Gading Mall where you can get yourself anything that you can think of. From necessities, to food to clothes and souvenirs. Amenities are all there, bottled water, coffee, tea, safety deposit box, thongs instead of slippers, soap and shampoo City view They provide you a bed buddy pillow aka "guling" aka dutch wife pillow Working desk
Cons: No direct access to mall due to covid, so you have to go out the main entrance and go back in through the mall entrance. Key card expires everyday and doesn't always work. I saw multiple guests including myself having to go back to reception to get their cards re-activated You have to convince the receptionist for a long time before they allow you to change room Water from shower area flooded the bathroom floor Shampoo and conditioner are all in one. Not all room has a cold aircon TV cannot access Netflix or Youtube. Only cable TV channel.
Tips: Bring your own conditioner, if you prefer shampoo and conditioner separated. If you are temperature sensitive like us, request them to check and make sure your aircon is working and cooling your room to a minimum of 20 degrees (minimum temperature the aircon can go to) before you check in, as it can take a while before you can see if your aircon is working or not and you might have a hard time requesting a new...
Read moreI'm a new member of the hotel's Gym & Swimming Pool. Earlier this day, one of the staff (Mr. Ridho) politely asked me to write a review regarding the cleanliness and overall experience of the hotel facilities I've used in the past few weeks. The Gym is rather small but adequately equipped. The weight training machines are reasonably well-maintained, but the treadmill has had quite some mileage on them. There are no dedicated lower body / leg exercises machine. Sauna room is small and comfortably fits around 4-5 person. Lockers in the changing room may require improvement for safety & security reasons, especially as the gym & swimming pool is getting more busy. Swimming pool is great. It's only about 5x20m and 1.25m deep, but the water is clean, fresh, and does not reek of chlorine - just perfect for swimming. Keep in mind that the pool's not quite large, so whenever there are more than 5 people swimming on the pool, it gets crowded rather quickly. No personal trainer nor lifeguard on duty, but this is not a problem for myself. Overall cleanliness is excellent, staff routinely patrols the whole area and swiftly responds to any wet floors - especially on the changing rooms. dries the floor & cleans the showers, WC, and everything in between. The outdoor area surrounding the swimming pool is unfortunately a smoking area, occassionally people are actively smoking here. I personally think that this is unfortunate, since secondhand smoke exposure are the last thing anyone needs...
Read moreOur company’s favourite hotel to stay at whilst in Jakarta. I also spot many business travellers often staying here as well due to its convenient location. The staff and service are impeccable and very polite, with a good breakfast spread. Their rooms were also renovated a few years back and are very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is also directly connected to a shopping mall with lots of eateries and shopping options, so you don’t need to fight in the Jakarta traffic jam for some dinner at the end of a long day.
I tried their spa service for the first time during my trip there last week. Whilst the massage was quite good, the massage bed was extremely uncomfortable with blocks of wood poking out which made my arms numb after some time. The hole where you place your face into is also very large and my head was constantly in danger of dropping right through. The music was also very lively, great for a cafe or a bar, but not when you’re trying to relax at a massage parlour, which made the overall experience quite uncomfortable so hopefully some improvements could be made on this aspect.
Otherwise everything...
