Hidden Mexico gem in town! 💎
Taqueria Sanrise is a semi-outdoor mexican restaurant located in Tebet. To get to the building, you must go to the second floor. Once you arrive at the second, you'll be able to take a seat and have a view of Tebet Eco Park.
The place really captures the mexican feeling, with upbeat music, decorations and the wooden floors, seats, and tables.
Service is great too, as they're really attentive when we need something and they treat us with care. They even manage to try to sell one of the sauces, which I don't expect to come from a waiter.
Food is also remarkably good. The Quesadillas have a tender bun, but it is filled with savory meat. Combine it with the variety of Mexican sauces that is available on the table, you will get a flavorful and juicy food.
However, one of its downsides is the price. The price compared to the food portion and rich taste doesn't equate. Perhaps this is due to the service charge that is given. It is a bit uncommon to have a service charge here in Jakarta unless you're eating at a fancy restaurant.
Nevertheless, I would recommend giving this restaurant a try at...
Read moreThe elote (corn) is lovely because it has lots of butter and added flavour that I like. I imagine it won't suit everyone's taste but for me it is the reason I keep going back. They have 3 sauces on each table which are great, and I recommend trying them all and mixing them together to see what you like. You can buy a bottle to take home for 65k if you want. The tacos, birrias, and burritos were all not great, with small amounts of meat inside of tortillas, which were also not great. The rice inside the burrito was hard and the lengue was awful, so much we didn't finish those two dishes. League tacos can be amazing, so something went wrong in the cooking. The view of the park is nice but there are two roads and a bit of traffic noise and pollution in the way. It is a covered outdoor space with 5 tables and some bar stools, which is nice with a breeze. I went back a few times for the elote and I will go back again for it, but I haven't found the other...
Read morei took a risk and ordered the bakso birria which turned out better than expected. it's like your average bakso but with birria soup, pico de gallo drowning inside it and melted cheese on the noodles. i also ordered a chicken birria which was a little underwhelming, the tortilla was slightly thick and couldn't soak up that delicious birria soup. i think next time i'd just stick to ordering beef birria which never disappoints.
the service was good, the staff were friendly and quick to attend, and i didnt wait too long for my dishes.
the restaurant is open spaced on a third floor balcony, but it wasnt hot because of the wind. it's the perfect place to eat and people-watch if you get a seat facing the road. might be a little annoying having to catch your tissues before the wind blows it away, but tbh that just added...
