Upstairs Rooftop Cafe — Restaurant in Jakarta

I recently visited Upstairs Rooftop Cafe with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience fell far below expectations. From the overpriced and lackluster food to the neglected ambiance, this cafe left much to be desired.

To start on a positive note, I must admit that the waiter who served us was friendly and attentive. They were polite and accommodating, providing decent customer service. However, good service alone cannot redeem the numerous shortcomings I encountered.

First and foremost, the menu advertised an array of enticing dishes. However, despite the promises, not all the items were available. It was disappointing to find out that I couldn't order the item I desired the most.

Moving on to the most critical aspect of any dining experience—the food itself. Regrettably, the taste of the dishes was far from satisfactory. Despite the steep prices, the quality and flavor of the food were decidedly subpar. Each bite was a reminder of the disappointment I felt, as the flavors failed to impress and left me wanting more.

Furthermore, the cafe's overall condition was disheartening. The lack of maintenance was evident in every corner. The place was in dire need of a deep clean, with grime and filth visibly present throughout. The dirty surroundings greatly affected the ambiance and made the dining experience uncomfortable and unappealing.

Considering the combination of the exorbitant prices, mediocre food quality, and neglected atmosphere, I cannot recommend Upstairs Rooftop Cafe. It pains me to rate it so low, especially given the friendly waiter, but the overall experience was simply unsatisfactory. I hope that the cafe takes this feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements to regain its reputation.

The place is really close to where I live. I usually went there if I have friends invited me to join. First thing to be noticed is that the place isn't too high like in a 20th floor building, but the view is actually quite nice (have a look at the photo attached). I would recommend to give a try to their western food such as their thin pizza or for a start you can just choose the platter, they are well cooked and very well served. Though I'm not impressed with their traditional food. The only thing that annoys me is the order would take too long to be prepared and to be delivered especially when there are lot of people come in at the same time. So, I guess having more workers in the kitchen will help this business to grow more. The place is open till midnight so it's a good place to hangout after work with your friends and colleagues especially if you are after some alcohol, they have beers and stuff. It subdued ambience is delectable.

During the morning it is very laid back, it feels like - a morning in Bali with a cup of joe.

Noon time is the best for iced cold beverages, it has ample selection of local brews. As I myself, prefer original Korean vodka - mixed with Indonesia's Bintang beer - add drops of lemonjuice 😋 *mhmh Fortunately, this cafe serves quite an array of soju to choose from *hurrah

And when the sky is dark, it is wine time. I think the price is reasonable from 300 thousand idr.

About the food, its oxtail soup is the finest. It is succulent and come in a big portion and tasty and fragrant😋
