A family friendly sundanese restaurant with a lake view in Central of Jakarta.
Located strategically in the heart of Senayan area in Jakarta and close proximity to Senayan Park make this place is very easy to find.
ACCESS. There are 2 access to the restaurant. Through the parking spot near parle restaurant. You can either walk or wait for a buggy car that will bring you to the entrance.
A free boat ride from the dock in near the Dion restaurant which is a better way to enter the restaurant.
The place has a large dining area both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor area can be quite hot during the day so it is preferable on the evening.
FOOD Lots of options to choose from. We ordered several dishes from the menu and we are not disappointed. The food quality is good and well seasoned. Here are the details of our order.
Nasi liwet: a great choice if you find nasi putih boring. Well seasoned and it is cooked perfectly
Gurame goreng: looks can be a bit boring but it is fried just right and the sambal kecap really compliments the fish really well. They also have cut the fish into a filet it is easier to get the meat off
Genjer Tauco: good portion, literally can taste the tauco but not overpowering. The genjer is fresh and has a little bit of crisp on the texture. The tomato also cooked just right, not tough and not too mushy.
Tumis Oyong: fresh and cooked pretty well. It depends on your preference but if you like sayur oyong that is super soft, this might not be for you as this oyong still retain its crunchiness.
Bakwan jagung: big portions, generous in corns, well seasoned, and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with not too thin but not too thick for each bakwan.
Tahu cabe garam: again, good in portions. The tofu is more towards soft in texture which blends perfectly with the flour coating. It is not too salty and it has a moderate kick in spiciness. However, I expect the flour coating to be crispier.
Nasi goreng telaga: sadly, the dishes that supposed to be fool proof are a bit underwhelming. The rice is too soft and soggy, the seasoning is just meh and a little sweet to my liking. I miss the smokiness and umami taste of nasi goreng that you can get from a street vendor. The fried egg is tough and it does not cooked evenly. The satay is tender and I can definitely taste a maranggi seasoning. However, the meat is a bit burned on 1 side thus makes it bitter.
SERVICE The service is 50/50. The waiter is nice and proactively helps us with anything we needed. They even allow us to switch tables multiple times even though the dah is quite busy.
However, on the negative side, it took us almost 1 hour for the dishes to get to our table. And it took 15 minutes just for the drink to arrive.
CONCLUSION It is a good restaurant and definitely worth your money as the price is very reasonable for a restaurant in Senayan area. However, they need to make the service quicker as 1 hour+ is unacceptable just to get the order out...
Read moreThe reservation experience is really bad. Here's the full story : Before going to the place, we reserve by chatting through their whatsapp that is stated on the social media. Until the time of booking, there is no reply. So we decided to go directly to the restaurant, thinking that there should be at least a table of 4 available. We arrived at the restaurant's dock, where we needed to take a boat in order to get to the restaurant. We’re told that we need to wait because all the tables there have been reserved. This doesn't make sense because our reservation is not being answered. However, we decided to stay in line, hoping we'll get our table. As time went by, we can see that a lot more people are arriving at the dock compared to going from the dock This doesn’t make sense, because IF there are more people going out than in, there should be a lot of empty seating inside. We kept asking for pictures inside the restaurant, in order to see how crowded it is inside. However, we didn't get those at all. Finally, after a long debate, we were finally allowed to go to the restaurant via the boat. When we arrive, surprise surprise, there's probably only around 50-60% table being filled We immediately take one of the seat with no trouble whatsover. This concludes the story as well as the fact that the restaurant has a really poor reservation management. Some additional information : there are some guests who are allowed to sit on their reserved table 1-2 hours before their actual booking time. There is an empty table that is seated by anyone, even though the guest of reserve it is still 3 hours to their booking time Food tastes okay, service inside the restaurant is pretty quick, the decorations are traditionally aesthetic. The floor is...
Read moreI "stumbled" upon this place one night. Place looked good, there was some crowd although somewhat small for a place that big (reasoned with myself that perhaps people are away on hols) and very reasonably priced menu. Then I thought Weii hidden gem. Excited, booked it for CNY dinner with fam the next night (which was tonight).
I absolutely loved the elegant decor, and the whole experience of being ushered into the restaurant from parking area in a small boat. The view at night is gorgeous.
Customer service is okay. Waiters were friendly although they did forget to check for more orders before closing time (9.30 pm). We made the order at 9.35 pm and was previously informed through whatsapp that last order will be at 9.45 pm. So I am not sure what is going on with the SOP here but quite dissapointed that they did not oblige to our additional orders which were simple drinks and a few dessert.
The main course left much to be desired. Quality of meal is downright dissapointing. I, a google culinary school dropout, can cook and feed myself better at home. The rice dishes were so dissapointing, RICE! Nasi liwet didn't taste good. Nasi oncom seem like it was made with yesterday's oncom. Bakwan jagung was so thin and oily. The fried chicken, recommended by the waiter, is so thin, frail and chewy. Some of the meat was so hard, my 6 yo son thought the chicken's skin had bones. Roadside seafood tastes better than whatever we had tonight, but was bearable. Only veggies and sambal dishes were done right.
I really hope the management considers hiring (much) better cooks (preferably legit culinary graduates) and increasing prices to afford serving guests less embarassing food in a fancy place.
For now, go there for the view and stay for that...
