Shaka Riki — Restaurant in Kuta Selatan

What a totally over hyped place I travel the world extensively I am a foodie and I've been so hanging out and looking forward to visiting Shaka Riki given all of its hype so I went there early 5pm to make sure that I could get a table the place was completely empty and the first thing they said is I must have a reservation in order to get a table bloody ridiculous anyway I told them as it was just me I won't be staying long after the food so they gave me a complimentary Misso which I couldn't tolerate because it was so salty. I ordered shrimp and fish Gyoza and their special snapper sushi roll and grilled mahi mahi as the main Basically all of it came out at the same time I'm not quite sure how I was supposed to eat three different dishes at the same time while 2 remained hot so that was difficult and of course the place was full of Flys who got to taste the food before me. I I had to cover the Main with napkins to keep the Flys away while I ate the entrees The place was exceptionally hot no air conditioning no fan I was literally dripping with the girl saying no fans available??? were in the Kitchen which is understandable but that doesn't look after the gift The Gyoza was tasteless the sushi was extremely disappointing and the Mahi Mahi didn't taste fresh it was tough and was totally uninspiring It was supposed to be teriyaki but only had a tiny bit on it Really disappointing and given the fact that it's supposed to be such a great place be my little wharng served better. Then with the bill you get an 18k gratuity tax already loaded on the expensive bill I think that's pretty cheeky given that the foodcwas dissapointing and the heat with no fans did not make me want to give a gratuity but it's on the bill so have to live with it So will I get back?? definitely not, would I recommended it ...

Wow! Outstanding and perfect in every way! So so much better than YUKI Uluwatu, in every way possible. Me and my partner actually said the service and food we got here at Shaka Riki was what we were hoping to get at Yuki and did not receive! Every one must go here.

Firstly we walked in, sat down, menus given and then immediately wet cold towels supplied.

After we ordered we then received a plate with chop sticks, tooth picks and cold towels. Then we got infused complimentary cold water, then complimentary miso soup, our drinks we then ordered were hot match tea and we received a tea pot each! Not one to share. The lady returned to top up our complementary water, very well trained staff.

The food was colourful, tasty, fair priced and outstanding.

This resto is open for dinner only and highly recommend reserving a table, we walked in very early at 5pm and were asked if we had one but the resto was quiet so we were seated. Maybe if the resto is quiet there is no need to ask if we have reservation. I also liked that this resto treated my partner fine who is from Sumatra Indonesia and can sometimes be treated quite bad in restaurants.

Beautiful restaurant and a really outstanding restaurant. What makes the restaurant stand out above the others is the service (infused waters supplied , miso soup, towels, chop sticks ) without asking and makes a major point of difference.

Arigatou gozaimasu!✌️Incredible food and brilliant service (chef kiss X a million 👌👌👌). The Monkey sushi (don’t stress it’s not actually monkey) with its crispy exterior and zesty yet creamy fillings is a texture sensation I could eat all day. Unsurprisingly it pairs all too well with the fresh Nigiri - oh and don’t forget to add the mouth watering pork ramen to your order, which hits the spot without being too oily or heavy. Just when you think it can’t get better Shaka Riki went and outdid themselves with their local hot sauce which with flavours of lime, soy and chilli it sure packs a kick! Honestly, it’s probably illegal to not give this place a try (or it should be)… 😉 Truely, I think I died I woke up in a tropical Japanese heaven, but better than I could have imagined because there was huge range of affordable options, which coupled with the service (your glass of cold water is constantly replenished by the delightful staff who don’t miss a beat) I doubt you could find anywhere as fantastic. The only reason I gave a 4 star for the atmosphere section of this review is because there is a tonne of construction next door and some noise from the traffic. But alas, this can be overcome! Simply make a reservation and ask to be popped on the tables at the back of the restaurant, unlike myself who rocked up sandy from the beach at dinner time with no reservations - classic.
