Read moreDespite the lovely atmosphere and very kind staff, both myself, my girlfriend and her sister all got VERY SICK after dinner at Warung Local Pecatu on Monday night.
We ordered Nasi Campur but there was almost no food left (at 7:30PM, during rush hour mind you) and it felt like we were eating leftovers. At least it looked like the food had been sitting there for ages. I should have followed my gut instinct and walked away.
As a result we all got a bad stomach ache and diarrhoea, still ongoing fyi.
I’ve been in Bali for 5 months and this is actually my first time getting this sick to the stomach so I’m not very happy about that and definitely not going back there to eat.
Maybe for a juice and atmosphere yes but definitely not for the food.
Also, one last observation for management: I find it quite unacceptable that customers only get three small rendang pieces of beef. Might as well not serve it at all or just give rendang sauce then without beef.
If that’s your break even, then increase your price for rendang beef. A normal portion like any other place would be at least 5 - 6 pieces.
To conclude I strongly advise you DO NOT EAT HERE until they fix their Health & Safety standard and food quality. Or choose your dishes very wisely. Definitely not the Campur.
I wonder if these places get proper food regular (or no) inspection from the local government? Because this is not the first post of customers getting sick / Bali Belly...
Read moreTwo star review for a few reasons. I think the current rating is misleading. The line out the door persuaded me to come here despite there being only westerners inside. I should have known that it wouldn’t be a very authentic warung, so honestly, it’s my own fault. I think it made it worse that I did visit an authentic warung for lunch and the price was significantly less for much more food. This was double the price for less food. If the food had been outstanding, I could justify the price. But it was very mid. The “beef rendang” just tasted like stewed beef and the portion was small. I’ve had rendang many times in Sumatra and Java and this tasted nothing like it. It was a bit bland. Nothing was wrong with it, it just wasn’t rendang, so I don’t see the need to pay more than the normal price for one that is not as good. I don’t see a need to pay the same price for as a western meal for mid Indonesian food when there are plenty of better places for cheaper. The portion sizes I received weren’t very large. For the price, you’d expect a little more. Also, things like rice and green chili sambal aren’t usually extra at the real places.
Caveat: the only reason I can see why people come here is for the ambiance. It is a nice place and easy to order/ not as intimidating for a westerner as an authentic warung. Also, the service was good and the...
