My wife and I popped into Stonewall hoping for a safe, celebratory queer space. Instead, we got a front-row seat to Boomer Aussie Night. Picture a room full of straight white Australians, 55+, holding court like they invented drag and the actual queer people in the room reduced to background noise. Iconic behavior!
In a space allegedly for the LGBTQ+ community, it’s a choice to ignore the only person of color in the room (hi, my wife) while the host goes table-to-table playing “Where are you from?” like it’s some interactive cruise ship game except they skip us entirely. Which, ironically, gave us something to bond over: mutual invisibility.
Not to be rude (okay, maybe a little), but if you’re running a “queer bar” and somehow manage to erase the very culture that built drag from Black queer icons to trans trailblazers you’re not curating a space. You’re cosplaying inclusivity while selling watered-down cocktails at colonial prices.
Speaking of can we talk about the drinks? I’m a certified lightweight, and even after eight (yes, 8!) drinks, we left more hydrated than buzzed. Is there a secret “straight-washed spritz” on the menu I missed? Charge more if you must but serve a real drink. Or rename it “Mocktail Mondays: Everyday Edition.”
Final thoughts: Stonewall Bali is less “liberated queer joy,” more “white gay adjacent straight-friendly drag brunch.” The vibe? Unseasoned and overcooked. The welcome? As invisible as their liquor pours. Bali deserves queer spaces that actually center queer people especially women, femmes, and POC. This? A 10/10...

Stonewall is an absolute gem that perfectly captures the essence of a great night out! From the moment you step inside, the vibe is electric, with an atmosphere that’s both welcoming and full of energy.
The drink menu is fantastic—crafted cocktails, solid pours, and something for everyone, whether you’re into a classic or something adventurous. The bartenders are quick, friendly, and know how to keep the good times flowing.
The highlight, though, has to be the drag performances. They’re nothing short of spectacular, with queens who light up the stage with charisma, talent, and show-stopping looks. The performances create such an inclusive, celebratory space that you can’t help but leave with a huge smile.
Stonewall is a must-visit for anyone looking for a night of fun, flair, and fabulous entertainment....
