Fried Chicken Ayam Gepuk BBQ Grill Fish — Restaurant in Lombok

don’t come here if you’re not patient, as 2 entrees will take about 35 minutes but you’ll be glad you waited if you do come. skip the menu and pick from the fresh local fish displayed out front. all told this was probably the best grilled fish (and fresh calamari) I’ve had in 5+ years in Indonesia. the kicker is the “tomato sambal” and grilled vegetables that come as sides which are perfectly spiced with basil and lime. didn’t try their namesake fried chicken but it’s prob good if it’s even half as tasty as the seafood. price also good; 250k for a huge fish plus for 2 ppl plus 1/5th of that for an appetizer sized calamari. weird music playing (like instrumental versions of Depeche Mode and nine inch nails remixes) but eventually it actually works. good cleanliness for a local warung, but sorry, you aren’t gonna be wanting to Use the bathroom. overall, the food was basically perfect, it’s just not gonna come quickly. no parking for cars but you can prob find street parking a bit down the road towards the eastern intersection. highly...

I will only rate the food as everything Else was fine. For someone who has eaten a good fish before this was just another experience. I did not know, that you can grill fish so it looses all texture and becomes like a puree. It was not nice to eat. We had red snapper, parrot fish and prawns. All had the same issue that they tasted like puree. Additionally all the fish is covered in a sweet soy sauce style marinade. A good fish needs salt and maybe lemon and does not have to hide. Red snapper was medium size and was 200k, parrot fish was 100k....

I lived in Lombok for around 8 months (Canadian) this was by far my favourite restaurant I have ever been to and best dish I have ever had! The ayam gepuk is phenomenal and the sambal is the best i have tried in my 6 years of travels! I would recommend the ayam gepuk if you like spicy food, I honestly can’t wait to fly back just to eat this! The owners are extremely amazing and would know my order as soon as pulled up on my scooter!
