A Breezy Morning Feast at Damar Restaurant, Pullman Ciawi
Tucked away in the cool, breezy highlands of Bogor, Damar Restaurant at Pullman Ciawi offers a breakfast buffet experience that feels like a mini holiday in itself. I came in expecting a typical hotel breakfast—but what I got was easily one of the best buffet spreads I’ve had in Indonesia.
The variety was mind-blowing: from Indian curries, Japanese sushi and takoyaki, to hearty Western favorites and comforting Asian classics. There’s truly something for everyone.
🌟 What I Loved Most:
Lontong Sayur – Creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. Comfort food at its finest. Kwetiau Goreng & Mie Goreng – Flavorful, satisfying, and not greasy. Dimsum – Fresh, hot, and generously filled. Jamu Corner – This deserves a spotlight. The man preparing the jamu clearly knows his craft. Unlike the overpowering versions I’ve had elsewhere, the blends here were smooth, natural, and revitalizing. I even went for seconds—and brought my husband along to try!
👀 The View & Vibes:
Damar sits right beside one of the resort’s pools, so you can enjoy your meal while watching kids splash around. It’s relaxed, lively, and family-friendly. The morning breeze made everything feel extra cozy and refreshing.
🪄 Unexpected Joy:
A delightful surprise was the roaming magician who visited each table. My kid couldn’t stop giggling—it was such a sweet, whimsical touch that made the whole morning feel extra special.
👏 Service & Seating:
The service? Perfecto. Dishes were cleared swiftly, and the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The seating is spacious, with enough room between tables to feel relaxed. I especially loved the sofa tables—they were so comfortable, I could’ve stayed all day. In fact, three hours flew by without us noticing!
If I had to nitpick, the bubur ayam could use a bit more seasoning, and the plain croissant didn’t quite match the buttery flakiness I’ve had at other 5-star hotels. But these are truly minor points in an otherwise amazing spread—and I’m confident they’ll continue to refine what’s already an incredible offering.

Saat sampai table tidak disediakan kain napkin, padahal di bbrp meja lain ada, lalu sy minta tissue ke waiter diarahkan silahkan ambil sendiri di samping mesin kopi, saat di coffee station ternyata tissue nya habis (sampai kami selesai makan jam 11 tissue nya tidak direfill karena saya bolak balik periksa terus apakah sudah ada tissue) lalu saya minta ke waiter lagi, setelah dia sadar bahwa tissue habis lalu dia pergi ke tempat lain dan berikan ke saya, berapa? 3 lembar.... Pelayanan nya tidak memperhatikan keperluan tamu.
Saat duduk tidak ditawarkan kopi atau teh, jadi saya pergi sendirike coffee station sendiri dan kebetulan agak ramai, ada 1 staff ibu2 yg menggunakan blazer sedang isi ulang susu dan ada 1 staff pria lain yg sedang membuat bbrp gelas kopi dan ada juga seorang tamu yg sedang menunggu kopi nya selesai dibuatkan, lalu saya titip pesan saja ke staff pria tsb tlg dibuatkan kopi dan diantar ke meja saya. Setelah bbrp menit saya kembali ke meja, saya kaget ternyata kopi sudah diantar ke meja saya dalam keadaan sendok sudah dicelupkan kedalam kopi sy dan tanpa coffee saucer. Saya berpikir ini pasti staff pria nya masih trainee tidak tau tata krama penyajian kopi. Berselang bbrp lama saya ingin kopi lagi, kembali ke coffee station masih ada staff ibu2 yg pakai blazer, beliau buatkan saya kopi, ternyata beliau juga juga sama, setelah kopi sudah siap beliau langsung celupkan sendok kedalam kopi saya dan lsg memberikan gelas tsb ke sy tanpa piring kopi, seolah2 sedang di kos2an... Warung saja menyajikan kopi menggunakan saucer dan sendok diatas saucer bukan dicelupkan ke dalam kopi saya. Ini hotel bintang 5 loh. Lucu.
Pilihan makanan nya seperti hotel bintang 3 atau 4 maximal karena tidak ada yang menonjol sama sekali, protein nya sangat sedikit, kebanyakan karbohidrat dan kelihatan dr keseluruhan bahan2 yg disajikan seakan ingin menekan cost karena sangat dominan bahan murahan seperti pasta, ketang, terong, pizza, roti, tempe dll. Buat saya yg benar2 daging cuma ayam goreng kremes itu pun piring penyajian nya kecil sehingga cepat habis, setelah habispun direfill nya lama. Dimsum cuma ada siomay dan bakpao, dan siomay nya cepat habis, berulang2 saya cek apakah sudah ada siomay dan selalu belum direfill. Letak bamboo steamer dimsum nya juga jauh di blkg meja sehingga susah sekali utk mengambilnya saat buka tutup nya tangan kita bisa kena uap panas, dan juga tidak ada yg menjaga utk bantu saya ambil dari blkg kitchen. Es krim nya punya dari mesin es krim soft serve bukan dari bucket yg pilihan banyak, dan es krim yg keluar juga cair dan berair tidak bagus layak nya soft serve. Puding nya pun sangat underwhelming, dari cetakan puding bulat lalu dipotong 1 sisi ditaruh di piring kecil ditambah krim dari piping bag disamping. Jg tidak tersedia oven utk memanaskan roti. Ini hotel bintang 5 loh.
Minuman nya juga ada yg dari dispenser ada yg dari carafe, yg dari carafe staff nya juga bilang yg di carafe itu jus asli, padahal saya coba minum jus asli nya paling cuma 25% sisa nya ditambah minuman kemasan lain dan gula, saya tdk bisa ditipu karena saya sudah pernah coba minuman jus asli dari resto di hotel bintang 5 lain. Ini encer dan terlalu manis. Org mau minum sehat kok ditambah gula tambahan.
Kesimpulan nya, ini Damar Resto sangat tidak layak dgn harga 300k/pax. Saya pernah coba sheraton bandung aja breakfast nya cuma 170k nett tapi bahan nya bagus dan segar semua, ada ikan, ada eskrim diamond bucket. Jauh lebih lengkap. Damar Resto ini level nya lebih ke bintang 3-4. Semoga management Accor bisa baca review ini dan benahi Damar Resto. What a complete joke. Padahal saya lihat tamu2 nya bukan org sembarangan yg tidak pernah coba breakfast hotel bintang 5 di tempat lain. Ada orang asing juga. Padahal lokasi Pullman di vimala...

When I came, It was around 8pm, the guest capacity was around 50-60%, but, no staff ask not serve me to table. even when i found the table my self, no one asking anything around 10 minutes until i call them. If i’m not mistaken, a 5 star hotel restaurant always pay attention with service
I originally order pizza, but then the fact was the pizza was sold out but no one come to me directly to explain until i was moved to another empty table and the staff just told me when i move. In fact, there is someone beside my table order Pizza but the staff keep saying its sold out.
I order rawon setan, which originally the staff told me it would be spicy. but in fact, the taste was no spicy at all until i add the sambal my self
When me and several staff unintentionally/accidentally look each other eyes to eyes (eye contact), instead of smiling, they avoid the eye contact. Even when we left the restaurant, the staff that we met around the corner not even greet us
