A Satisfying Yet One-Time Visit to Mad Cow Vimala Hills 🍴

Set within the peaceful Vimala Hills area, Mad Cow offers a cozy steakhouse setting with a lounge-like ambiance. The red-toned lighting might feel a bit intense, but it still creates a warm and inviting space.

From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent—staff were friendly, welcoming, and ready to help.

🍞 Before our meal, we were served complimentary warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was soft, fresh, and tasty—a great start that set the tone for the meal.

We ordered the “Mad’s Promo & Family Package”, which included: 🥩 “Maddie is Yours” – Buy 1 Get 1 Sirloin Steak 🥩 Black Angus Sirloin 250g, medium well

The regular sirloin came out slightly dry for my liking, while the Black Angus was juicier and more flavorful—definitely worth choosing if you prefer a better cut.

The set also came with:

🥕 Carrot soup – served warm, with a nice umami depth. 🐟 Dori fillet – tasty but a bit too oily. 🍗 Chicken wings – well-seasoned and satisfying. 🍟 French fries – crispy but also quite oily. 🌭 Franks/sausages – surprisingly good

I ordered steamed rice (additional, not included in the set). – unfortunately dry, and at around IDR 55k per cup, felt overpriced.

🍽️ Portion sizes were generous—there were five of us, and we couldn’t finish everything. We had to take some of the food home.

☕ The tea also came with a surprisingly delicious cookie, which added a sweet little touch to end the meal.

🌄 One of the staff mentioned that during the day, the view from the balcony is beautiful—you can see Mount Salak when the weather is clear. Sadly, we visited at night, so we missed out on that view.

Final Verdict: Mad Cow offers warm service, generous portions, and a few nice surprises like the complimentary bread and cookie. That said, the overall food execution felt hit-and-miss. I probably wouldn’t return, but if you're already in the Puncak area and craving steak, this could still be one of the better...

This is my first time reviewing Mad Cow restaurant, and I must say I'm quite disappointed with my experience on April 9, 2024.

I placed my order at 6:04 PM, but it wasn't until 7:14 PM that the food arrived. Waiting for over an hour was frustrating, especially when I inquired about the delay with the staff and the manager (a woman wearing glasses). She explained that our well-done order would take 50-69 minutes, which seemed excessive, especially since I had ordered my steak cooked medium. It was puzzling why both well-done and medium steaks were served together.

I'd like to address the behavior of the male staff members (excluding the bartender). When serving complimentary bread to customers, it's important to USE TONGS for hygiene purposes. Unfortunately, both staff members handled the bread with their bare hands, which was quite off-putting. As representatives of a 5-star hotel like Pullman Ciawi, they should maintain a higher standard of professionalism and cleanliness.

Despite the delay and hygiene concerns, I found the taste of the food to be satisfactory. However, the sight of the staff handling food without proper utensils or gloves detracted from the overall experience. In a 5-star hotel restaurant, cleanliness and hygiene should be top priorities, and food service should be more efficient. Waiting over an hour for a meal, especially as the first customer of the evening, is simply unacceptable.

In conclusion, I hope Mad Cow restaurant takes these points into consideration to improve their service and maintain the reputation of being part of a 5-star...

I had a high expectation for this place since it is located in Pullman and has a pretty good rating in Google. However, I felt very disappointed in the food. The reservation process was smooth, the atmosphere was great, I liked how they chose red and black as the theme of the decor. The utensils are also cute and unique. We ordered the promo menu Maddie is Yours. Buy 1 get 1 sirloin steak medium well, the waiter didn’t even bother to confirm the level of the steak after gave the steak to us just leave us in hurry. After that we checked our steak and it was very hard to slice let alone to chew. We ordered beef rib and volcano chicken strip with veal sausage. The beef rib is supposed to be slow cooked but it was very hard, even when my husband tried to slice it, it dropped since it was too hard. So we couldn’t eat it anymore. The chicken was ok. The veal sausage tasted ordinary. They didn’t even give us salt and pepper. We needed to ask it few times and it wasn’t even crowded that night, there were only few tables fulfilled. We dropped our complaints after meal and they asked our room number to apologise but i think it was just a gesture, so I think better to write a review in Google so that Mad Cow can improve their main dishes. Overall, it could be better for Mad Cow especially since it is located in five stars hotel with that price range I supposed we can expect better food than the one you served to us before.
