Kabana Ubud — Restaurant in Pulau Bali

We had two family dinners here while staying at the resort. The place deserves the rate it gets on google foodwise. *Food: very good. Kitchen does its job well. *Service: good, but not consistent. First night much better, second they simply…. were not at their best *Drinks/cocktails: good quality *Cleanliness: place is neat, tidy, great views.

Food was good. Everyone liked it at the end of the day. I had trio tartare as starter and tuna tataki second night. Both starters delicious. Nothing to complain about. For second, fish of the day, which was very tasty and grilled marinated king prawns which I swapped with my wife for the tuna steak second night. These were both good. I am not a big fan of king prawns, so it was a bad choice for me. That’s why I asked my wife to have it. Rather nothing wrong with it, they pilled it for me, but I never liked them, so I enjoyed tuna instead. Thank you, my dear wife ;) My wife went for octopus and trio tartare. Both great starters. For seconds Squid and tuna. No comments. My son had tuna and trio tartare and for seconds octopus and Indian Slipper lobster the second night. Also nothing to complain. Finally my daughter took edamame and scallops. She had desert, coconut crème brûlée for desert. Summarizing, food is the strongest side and consistent quality. All fine, you will not regret it. Chefs know their craft. Ok, I did not love cheese cake. Average, not delicate enough. Simply little too dry to my liking. Drinks are good. We tested espresso martini, whiskey sour, mojito, long island. All pass.

Service is inconsistent. Sorry guys. First night was spotless, all went as it should. Second night lots went wrong. Happens! Not a big deal. The starters did not come together, seconds as well, plus they messed up the order. Instead of tuna, brought lobster my wife did not order. They figured it out themselves, but it was too late. We had to wait longer for tuna, which delayed second for her much. Service-wise, not Akar unfortunately. Additionally, we felt rushed the second night. I did not like it. The restaurant closes at 8 pm theoretically. We came at 7 pm. The waiter seemed to want to close the service as soon as possible with us. Maybe I am wrong with my impression, but… He was nice generally, really, but rushing too much with seconds, right after we finished starters is not great.

Place deserves a chance. It is like a younger brother to the big one, Akar restaurant, trying to catch up, but trips a little while “running”, so keep at trying. Still a good place. I know I am being a...

We enjoyed a fantastic in-villa BBQ dinner, and the experience was absolutely delightful, thanks to Bali and Ojan. Bali, our server and waiter, was simply amazing. Her attentiveness and knowledge about the food and overall service were impressive. From the moment she arrived, Bali made sure every detail was perfect, ensuring we had everything we needed. Her dedication to making our dining experience exceptional was evident in every interaction. Bali's attention to detail and her friendly demeanor truly enhanced our evening.

Ojan, our BBQ chef, showcased incredible skill. He expertly prepared a variety of meats, all cooked to perfection. Whether it was steak, chicken, or seafood, each item was grilled to perfection, tender, and flavorful. Ojan's culinary talents were on full display, and his ability to cater to different tastes and preferences made the meal memorable.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kabana Resort in Ubud, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional.
