You see a pic similar to mine on social media and you mentally file it under, "when I go to Bali", in your brain. That is exactly what I had done. This was on my Bali bucket list. Our tour guide first took us to a place that was extremely crowded. We were told the wait would be over an hour, the long lines, the wait, everything going on, it was all too much so I told my husband, it is ok, I do not have to do it, even though I was heartbroken 💔 on the inside. Then our guide took us to @umapakelbali for Luwak coffee and there we met Yati as soon as we exited our vehicle. She was our tour guide for the coffee tour. Another first for us as we had heard so much about the world's most expensive coffee so we had to try it. While there we learn they have the same swings as the other place but it is not a factory. Here it is not at all overwhelming but that intense fear of heights kick in more for my husband than me. He is worried about me but I think to myself, "when will I get to do this again". My husband asks me, if I am sure a million times and I am confident in my decision. Even with my injured foot, I know I can do it. With Yati's help and patience, I hobble on with my injured foot and pose away. All the fears are gone and the feeling of flying swoops in. It is the best feeling in the world and I do not want it to end. I don't think I have stopped smiling the entire evening. Yati is an amazing and patient guide and an excellent photographer. I will say it again, she made me feel like a superstar. I am so happy and will cherish this memory forever. Bookmarks this location for when you go to Bali and if you come across Yati, do tell her I am forever grateful and thankful to her.

A beautiful place to kill an hour in Ubud. I think this might be one of the quieter coffee plantations to visit as recommended by our driver. We didn’t pay an entry fee and had a dedicated guide who showed us round the garden and all the botanicals they use in the coffee, as well as the process for making Luwak coffee. We then were served with a variety of different teas on coffees whilst taking in the views of the terrace, and only had to pay for the Luwak coffee that accompanied it. We loved the coconut and avocado coffee which was really creamy and all the teas were refreshing and delicious. There is an option to pay to do a rope swing including dress hire too. The shop is huge and great for gifts, we bought a few bags of different coffee that weren’t hugely expensive, with the options to get ones with sugar and ones without.

We visited Uma Pakel in 2024 and were so impressed with the service that we decided to return in 2025 and bring our family along. Unfortunately, this visit was a letdown.

The service has noticeably declined. Our guide seemed disinterested from the start—unlike the previous year, he gave minimal information about coffee farming and spent more time on his phone than engaging with us. He rushed us through the coffee-making tour and directed us straight to the Bali swings, which seemed more like a sales tactic than part of a genuine experience.

We were promised three different photo angles at the swings, but no staff offered assistance. We had to take our own photos, which defeated the purpose. One of the swings didn’t even have a proper step for safe access. Instead, we were told to step onto the rope securing the swing—an unsafe practice that could easily lead to accidents, especially if you're not properly strapped in.

Another issue was the confusing and inconsistent tasting paddle policy. Individual visitors receive one paddle each, but if you arrive as a group—whether two or ten people—you’re only given two paddles to share. This was never communicated clearly and left us disappointed.

To top it off, the place now looks neglected and run-down—quite a contrast to its condition just a year ago. It's a shame to see such a beautiful place decline so quickly. We won't be returning, and we hope Uma Pakel can regain the quality and care that once...
