Excellent venue, food and service.
We visited this small but beautiful venue out of the blue and found a quaint, restaurant well maintained providing perfect ambiance along with tasty food. The staff worked as a happy well organised team speaking very good English, while at the same time were attentive without being imposing, a fine well practiced skill.
Ample parking is available opposite the main entrance as well as the restaurant providing a free collection and return service to your hotel. The restaurant is only open from 17:00-22:00 and there are only 5 tables (tables are well spaced apart) available so book in advance to be sure of an excellent evening.
The gardens are well maintained and the bathrooms the best I have experienced in Bali and the ladies will be very happy.
We unreservedly recommend Secret Garden Restaurant.
Update (some 2 months later). Nothing had changed, from the moment we drove up we were greeted immediately and assisted with parking before being escorted to our table. Even at this time (7p.m.) all tables were either occupied or reserved.
The staff were every much as attentive and sincere in their advice on the menu which is in english and has a number of vegetarian options. Meals are made from daily locally sourced fresh produce where possible. If you are looking for "fast oily food" you won't find it at Secret Garden. All meals are served to you at a polite respectful pace with no pressure to move you along.
The owner Kadek is very likely to visit your table for a moment to ensure your complete satisfaction.
What you will not find here is: loud music, television, WiFi or rowdy groups of people to distract you from the company and atmosphere you will be...
Read moreSecret Garden was a lovely place to eat in North Bali in terms of the environment, presentation and service. The owner was hugely friendly and served us throughout our meal after we stumbled across this hidden romantic gem (max 14 people). The food was good and clearly from fresh ingredients, but the setting was the real highlight, away from the busy roads and in a walled, green garden with water features and pagoda.
The price was more than perhaps the food would usually fetch, but the quality and production value of the restaurant was perfect and equal to European standards. We ate fresh bread with a cream cheese spread to start (complementary), followed by different pork-based Balinese main courses (chicken and fish options also). There was alternatively a 3 course set menu option in Balinese, Indonesian or European.
One drawback was the 300m unlit walk from the main road with the occasional pestering from local dogs (which could also sometimes be heard from the restaurant), but we found out that they offer a pick up service from anywhere in Lovina which would avoid this.
Overall, a great place and a good change from the...
Read moreThe Secret Garden in Lovina is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, every detail was crafted to perfection. The surroundings are immaculate, with gardens so carefully manicured they feel like a work of art.
The service was exceptional—warm, genuine, and attentive without ever being intrusive. What truly made the evening unforgettable were the small personal touches: my wife’s name carefully written on a leaf and presented with a frangipani flower, and the stunningly carved vegetables that accompanied each dish. These details transformed a wonderful meal into an extraordinary experience.
The atmosphere is equally special. The gentle music and thoughtful layout of the restaurant created a social, welcoming vibe that made the evening even more enjoyable. To top it all off, we were picked up and dropped off at our villa free of charge—an incredible gesture that speaks volumes about their commitment to hospitality.
I cannot recommend The Secret Garden highly enough. It’s completely unique, one-of-a-kind in Lovina, and absolutely a must-do experience when...
