After trekking all the way up to North Bali, we were so fortunate to have this cute little Warung right beside our homestay. We were craving for some local home cooked food, and we were so thankful to meet bak pak and taste his cooking.
As we were having near his closing time around 7pm, there weren’t much left as everything is quite picked over for the day, except Nasi Campur, Nasi Goreng or Mie Goreng.
We ordered Nasi Goreng, and turns out he gave us everything he has left for his Campur, even all of his remaining white rice without charging us extra. The flavors were amazing, albeit on the saltier side. I enjoy a good fried rice with good wok hei, which gives the nice smoky flavor, but not burnt rice. We also had some leftovers which he heated up for us without extra charge.
Our food total to only about 40k, but we paid 50k and told him to keep the change.
What makes the place special is that eating here is like eating at his very own kitchen, and tasting the food is like getting warm hugs from a grandpa.
We were so blessed to taste his food and keep him company by hearing his stories on Balinese food and how he is coping with the pandemic. Truly touched our hearts. We even back next morning to his Warung during breakfast for seconds!
If you ever get a chance to visit Lovina, definitely visit and taste the food from this special gem. Because good things like these rarely...
Read moreWhen we come here we didn't have expectation to get such a great food, we only come here because we were looking for cheap local food, and also it's close from our hotel. But, we are so surprised when we try his food, everything is amazing! so delicious! Pak Putu is a very good cook, and a very friendly man. All of his food is perfectly cooked, and perfectly seasoned, from the Sate Ayam, Marlin on skewers, Mackerel, The Mix Rice, everything is so delicious. He has a special dipping called chili lemongrass, I love this dipping, it's not spicy but rich of flavour. So far my favorite is still the Mackerel and the Marlin (I highly recommend these), but I will try all of his menu since he's an excellent cook. This place served the best and freshest seafood I found so far here in Lovina. Me and my family love this place. One day, we even came here twice, for brunch and for...
Read moreWhile staying in Lovina, I read that this is "the best cook in bali" in a review for Warung Putu. I thought, well, that's probably an overstatement, but it means it's probably a good restaurant. Let me tell you after going there...here works the best cook in bali. I can't even describe how perfect every dish tasted. I'm usually a guy that likes to try different places...but while staying in Lovine, I went out to eat at Warung Putu every single evening. The food is delicious AND cheap, everything is freshly made, extra requests are no problem, and Putu himself is such a nice and lovely guy, I had so many great conversations with him while eating. If you're staying somewhere near this restaurant, you HAVE...
