This was my 4th time visiting Kolona Kitchen & Coffee.. to say the least is I am so disappointed with the exponential downgrade it had in only two years! 1st visit (2022): it was excellent! Had smoked salmon, raviolis, fresh water crawfish (i think or was it lobster?).. i didn't have any complaints.. I loved it. I wanted to bring all my loved ones here! 2nd visit (early 2023): I went with my parents, and they had downsized their menus to not include some of the things I ate on my first visit.. but the quality was still good.. the restaurant was gaining more attraction as there were many people there too.. My 3rd visit (dec 2023): they weren't many people, but it was not something to dwell on, i bought finger foods, chicken katsu curry, and a smoothie bowl and even tried the RAW oysters! But it was not bad.. oysters were frozen, but it wasn't bad.. it had a sweet taste, too.. My 4th visit on the 15th of April was the most disappointing meal of our lives.. I had bought the Australian striploin steak, my brother the beef curry, and my mom the chicken dory.. also a calamary fingerfood Our first choices were out even though it was fairly early in the day.. and just after a long holiday, so i thought it'd be recently stocked.. but no.. so we bought all the aforementioned..
Okay, so the food: The calamary ring finger food had such small rings, diameter wasn't even as big as my index finger.. the side of salad had a sliver of lettuce leaf.. nomore than 5 small pieces the size of 1/4 of my palm.. The dory was dry, and sambal matah didn't have any flavor.. The steak was supposed to be medium, but it had charred exterior (i think you need to clean your pan first.. that charring was from something else that had caramelized) with a side of salad that has just been washed and not dried properly, so between that and the neutral oil (not even any taste of dressings) there was no taste to the salad.. very disappointing.. The drinks, i bought the infused water.. the jug was so dirty.. it had pieces of old fruit on the spout of the jug.. and i quickly wiped it off before my mom saw and could get mad at the waiters.. Lastly, the beef curry.. i don't know how it was called Japanese beef curry (it's laughable).. maybe it got lost in translation.. to put it very gently, it was a tumeric beef stir fry.. it was the first to come out, and it just destroyed the mood.. there was no curry sauce.. no thickend curry or anything.. and just pieces of veggies.. the beef was just cutlets.. not even slices, so it was very chewy.. the egg was so overcooked and dry..
The service was abissmal, but maybe we were already pissed off at the food.. but yea, it was just, eh..
Worst money spent on food.. we quickly ate and left.. because what was that?! You guys need to do better.. This review is not meant to be degrading. I have listed all the problems. I hope you know where you went wrong and to...
Read moreWe came here on January for a small group meeting of 9 people. It was quite helpful that they accept table reservation and also has plenty of parking space.
Just FYI, access to VIP room requires a minimum spending of 150k/person. So, if you are having a really important meeting and need less distraction, I would really reccomend taking this option as otherwise the interior setting was not really condusive, based on my experience. Music was a bit too loud, I reckon.
About food, I had too much of pesto on my fettucine al pesto, it's more like 'soaked' in the sauce. The plating was hard for me to eat with spoon and fork (photo attached). Fish and chips came with a bit of a local twist, the chips was more like 'ceriping', not too add the sambal matah *duh. Pizza was fine though. Greentea latte was basic, black ice tea was even more basic.
In short, it was dissapointing. In the middle of serious conversation, the staffs cleaned up our table too often, some of us got distracted while speaking to the group until they had to stop as they forgot about what they were gonna saying. I found it insensitive and doesn't worth the money we spent.
The most surprising, there was an accident where somebody has gotten angry and yelling to the staff: "Goblok!". I don't know who was it but seems like the BOH manager (?). That was way far from appropriate. Lucky that my colleagues were foreigners who didn't understand local slangs.
Sorry if the review was lengthy and quite discouraging. I just write what I experienced during my visit. Hope that they...
Read moreI came here once and i think its good and fine to give it a try again. But after this visit on 14 February 2025 I think It’s the last time I will came to this place.
At first we came at 20.00 and we didn’t reserve any table. Which I think gonna be a problem because they supposed to prepare for the incidental guests also not only the reserve one.
First problem, the menu out of stock. Almost all of them left the Indonesian food and I can count with my finger. At first they said the pasta’s ready so I ordered pasta and also crab but after a long wait they said also the pasta run out (I don’t like to assume but they keep it for the reservation guests) I simply don’t agree with this cause we came first and it should be us getting to order first.
Second problem, I asked about drinks. I asked is the Popcorn Caramel Latte based with Coffee or not. The waiter said No, So I order that menu and it turns out it’s coffee. I have Gerd so it doesn’t matter if my stomach is fine but at this point it hurts so It really matters.
Third problem, we think after all this problem at least we get to eat something but turns out we need to still wait dor a long queue for the crab.
So we cancelled and get our drinks to go. Yeah even the lights goes off, thats not on purpose but. Yeah we got nothing.
The manager’s recovery for the customer was good but we did not tell her the problems we got. I hope this can be lesson to be...
