Walking into Lukisan Bumi, the effort put into the interior design is immediately apparent. It's a comfortable and inviting space. We were greeted warmly and offered refreshing drinks, and my wife's bag was placed thoughtfully in a basket. Great start!
While placing our order, we encountered a slight hurdle. It seemed the waitress wasn't completely familiar with the menu, leading to some confusion. Additionally, a menu item we were excited about was already sold out despite our early arrival (5:00 pm). Though disappointing, we remained optimistic. Unfortunately, our request for another "welcome" drink, even offered to pay for it, was denied. This initial confusion left us a bit unsure about the experience.
Despite the initial hiccups, the food arrived in a reasonable timeframe and was absolutely delicious. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were creative and satisfying. While the portions were a bit smaller than we expected, we appreciated the unique flavor combinations. However, the recommended cow tongue dish was slightly disappointing, as the meat was scarce amidst the vegetables. We enjoyed it, but felt it lacked the expected amount of meat. We also ordered the oxtail soup, which boasted amazing broth flavors but had tough meat that didn't fall off the bone as expected.
Lukisan Bumi deserves high praise for its stunning interior and delicious, flavorful cuisine. However, the initial confusion regarding the menu and the inflexibility regarding the additional drink request left us with mixed feelings. Regarding value for price, we felt the restaurant could have shown more flexibility considering the minor issues encountered.
While the food and ambiance were excellent, the initial service hiccups and inflexibility leave us unsure about recommending an immediate return. However, if you're looking for a beautifully designed restaurant with delicious and creative Indonesian flavors, Lukisan Bumi could be worth a try, keeping in mind the potential for minor service...

Service staffs seems to be either mostly new hire or untrained. Not just that they are VERY slow but they were just weren’t able to give explanation of menu and clear description of the dish we asked despite much attempts on their side. Understandably this restaurant has a VERY extensive menu.
Portion of rawon is only a quarter height of the bowl. For the premium price we paid and the ratio of the bowl used, it is downright disappointing. While other dish we ordered, the proportion of bowl is too small that the fish is outside the bowl rim. Eating it is a struggle. You would expect place like this to give decent service not spectacular but just decent.
Honestly I would recommend just chilling here with drinks and snacks. We don’t mind the pricing but this place is under delivering in the food quality and focused on presentation on the dish rather than the dish itself or being considerate to their patron needs! Thus making it feel very ‘pretentious’. Staff also brought out a huge jar of complimentary infused water (welcome drink) but only poured a ‘shot glass’ size of it. It sets up a bar and crashed it (at least for us). It would be better to do away with it but that is personal opinion 🙏🏻
P.S: the staff did asked our preference to choose any place we want to be seated at despite it being a rainy day and them having to struggle to bring the dish to our area so props to that.
Suggestion : stick to snacks, side dishes and drinks only for now. I hope this place can have better management because it is has so much potential with...
Read moreNice Place - Below Average Food Reading other reviews, we were hoping to enjoy a nice lunch with good vibes and delicious food. Upon entering the restaurant, we were impressed. The place wasn't large but cosy, clean, and well-maintained. The only downside is that during lunch, it was rather hot and humid. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. We ordered rawon, dory fish with rice, and fried calamari. The presentation was remarkable, as seen in the photos. The rawon was not authentic and had a strange taste. The dory was not savoury and a bit rubbery. The worst was the calamari, which was hard to chew and was not fresh. The beverage selection was also a bad experience. Everything was between 20k to 30k. Normally, we would order bottled water so we could spend more for the food and to avoid sugary drinks, but the only water they had was Equil priced at 28k. After we finished dining, the restaurant also added tax and service charges. So it was quite pricey for a regular meal for two. As much as I wanted to like the place, for this price I can't recommend it to others. There are even better options on the same street (without mentioning...
