One of the best and authentic es puter I have ever tasted!

Take note that es puter is not your typical ice cream… the base ingredient is coconut milk instead of cream and cow milk. The texture is also different… unlike ice cream, es puter has a more rough texture where you can still feel the ice.

They have four different flavors which are avocado, durian, chocolate, and coconut. A special thing about this place is that if you order durian flavor they will give you the actual durian fruit as a topping on top. Same goes with coconut flavor, then they will give you a few slices of coconut for topping and of course as usual, plain bread and tapioca pearls are also toppings you can choose from. An unfortunate thing is that you can only choose 2 flavors even if you buy the one that has three scoops in a bowl.

It is a curb-side tent restaurant… basically an Indonesian traditional food place so get ready to get a bit hot and eating your es puter while cars and motorcycles pass through you a couple meters away. Since it is famous, sometimes the place would be packed with people and you have to eat in your car because there are no seats available in the tent.

We heard that this place has really good ice cream so we decided to go there. At first, the place may be quite off putting as it is literally on the street (by the sidewalk) and it looked quite shabby. As we went inside, we also noticed that it isn't quite as hygienic but it is typical for other "warungs" around Indonesia. The menu consisted of 4 different types of ice cream: Coconut, Durian, Avocado and Chocolate. They will give you two scoops of whatever flavour you want as you can mix both of them. We decided to get one bowl of coconut and one bowl of durian and avocado. The coconut was really good as it has coconut shavings as a topping. Other than that, the durian too was delicious as they will literally give you a piece of durian fruit that it actually not bad. The price of each bowl is Rp.20k or about $1.5 USD. You can also add a piece of palm fruit or also known as ice apple for Rp.5k which you need to try as it was good. Ok I actually underestimated this place. But when I got to taste the ice, I was proven wrong! Es puter is a local take on shaved ice, the stall only offered 4 flavours; durian, Chocolate, coconut and avocado. You can have 1 flavor or 2 max flavor/bowl. Price range 20-30k/bowl. Chocolate flavor was not too sweet just the way I like it, Avocado was fresh and nice, coconut was given shaved coconut and has the kick of coconut milk, durian (my wife said) was really good, it has the distinct taste of local durian,not just creamy feel. The place was small, it only has one long table and plastic chairs. But, people come and go incessantly! And parking space was almost full...
