Been a really really long time since the last time I visited Semarang. In this short getaway, me and fam decided to visit Eastman Coffee House for breakfast, and boy we go all out in the carbs 🙃. We ordered Nasi Goreng Dendeng Lemak (savory fried rice with beef fat jerky, fried egg, melinjo crackers and pickles) which is really delicious and I totally recommended this one for you guys to try; Korean Beef Bowl (grilled galbi marinated AUS beef striploin, garlic butter fried rice, sunny side up) this one is just so so in my opinion; Omurice (Japanese omelette, chicken fried rice, scallion, mushroom, brown sauce) for me this one kinda lacking some kick of spices but overall pretty nice; Balinese Chicken Betutu (slow cooked and grilled half chicken on base genep, served with steamed rice, plecing kangkung, pindang egg, peanut, chicken feet crackers and sambal matah) this dish also lack some kick in the seasoning in my opinion; and Caesar Salad (Romaine lettuce, grilled chicken breast, boiled egg, cherry tomato, caesar dressing, croutons, parmesan) as an extra for my mom, unfortunately i'm not a herbivores so it's kinda impossible for me to review this dish 😅. For beverages, we ordered Monster Berries (raspberry, strawberry, banana, coconut water, pomegranate) which is refreshing; Salted Ice Caramel Mocca (DIY Latte tray with house made salted caramel, espresso, cold whipped milk) which is fun to make 😄; Biscoff Latte (signature espresso, whole milk, cream, Biscoff crumble spread) which is not my type of beverages; and Java Frinsa Coffee (smooth body, elegantly bright, juicy aftertaste) which is also not my kind of beverages. Overall, in this visit to Eastman Coffe House Semarang, i'm gonna rate them 3.5 out of 5. For more info about foods, kindly visit...

Boasting a commendable selection of coffee beans, Eastman caters to various palates, ensuring a satisfying brew for every visitor. Beyond coffee, their cheesecake comes highly recommended, providing a sweet and indulgent counterpoint to the coffee. The food menu also impresses, offering a good range of options that complement the overall cafe experience.
The ambiance at Eastman is generally very pleasant, characterized by a warm and inviting atmosphere. While it can get a bit noisy, especially during peak hours, the level remains acceptable and doesn't significantly detract from the overall enjoyment. A notable comfort factor is the interior temperature; despite Semarang's often sweltering heat, Eastman maintains a comfortably cool environment, making it a welcome escape from the warmth outside. For those who smoke, the dedicated smoking room is a thoughtful addition, praised for its cleanliness and the presence of air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable space for all patrons.

Read moreMy family and I stayed overnight in Semarang and decided to get Eastman for dinner via Gojek. What we didn’t expect was how good the food was, so we decided to actually visit the place for lunch the next day.
For our delivery, we ordered Nusantara, veggie burger, tikka masala, and fried cassava. The veggie burger was alright, but everything else was fan-absolutely-tastic. Even though the food was delivered in a to-go box, they did such a great job with the flavor and balance of the dishes.
Then when we visited the place the next day, we got the soy poke bowl, ricotta pancake, earl grey pain au chocolat, salmon chips and dip, iced latte and iced yuzu tea. It was amazing, to say the least. With the exception of the pain au chocolat that barely tasted like anything, everything else was just so so good. Eastman does such a good job with adding crunch, some acidity, and complex flavors that make each bite really enjoyable.
My personal favorite was the Nusantara and soy poke bowl, but that’s because I like vegetarian dishes personally. I heard that the crowd favorite are the meat sandwiches, and I have no doubt, given their track record thus far, that those are great as well.
Next time I visit Semarang, I’d definitely like to come back and try out Eastman’s other menus. Highly recommended place to visit by yourself, with a friend or with...
