Depot Bu Rudy is a well-known spot for food lovers, especially those who crave authentic East Javanese cuisine. Situated in Surabaya, this iconic eatery has garnered a loyal following over the years, thanks to its signature sambal and hearty menu offerings. The atmosphere is simple and homey, making it feel like you’re dining in someone’s kitchen—complete with the warm, friendly service typical of traditional Indonesian establishments.

One of the highlights of Depot Bu Rudy is the legendary sambal bawang (garlic chili paste), which is an absolute must-try. It perfectly complements the dishes, particularly the crispy fried chicken and empal (sweet marinated beef). The sambal strikes the right balance between spiciness and flavor, leaving a lasting impression on your taste buds. The nasi udang (shrimp rice), another popular choice, features perfectly cooked shrimp paired with fragrant rice and, of course, a generous serving of sambal. It’s a dish that truly embodies the flavors of Surabaya.

While the food is undeniably delicious, the place can get quite crowded during peak hours, which might lead to a bit of waiting time. However, the efficient staff ensures that the service remains prompt and attentive. The prices are reasonable, making it accessible for those seeking high-quality food without breaking the bank.

Depot Bu Rudy also offers its sambal and other condiments for takeaway, allowing visitors to bring a piece of its signature flavor home. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, a visit to Depot Bu Rudy is a delightful way to experience the rich culinary traditions...

Depot bu rudy is a famous restaurant and place to buy snacks and gifts originated from Surabaya. Every single time i go here, i've never seen this place not packed with people, here's always busy. There are so many different kind of snacks, so take as long as you like to find the right thing to buy, but don't forget to check on the price. You can asked the workers to pack everything you buy, they're very helpful.

Their signature is Sambal bawang and udang (condiment and crispy shrimp), they have 3 kinds of condiments and the waiter said it will last up till a month from its production day. They also have traditional indonesian snacks like onde-onde, surabi, bika ambon, and every other name you can thing of :") Their restaurant also serve menus originated from East java, like Pecel Madiun (mixed boiled veggies with peanut sauce), Nasi udang empal (rice with crispy shrimp, beef, and condiment), Penyetan (fried foods serve with condiment) and so on. There's a vegetarian menu too, so at least if you're a vegetarian you still be able to eat here. Mostly the foods are spicy, a typical of east java food.

Lastly, the parking space is huge enough and usually there's a man who will help you park your...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A True Gem for East Javanese Cuisine Lovers!

Depot Bu Rudy is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving authentic East Javanese flavors. The place is spacious and comfortable, with a warm and inviting interior that blends traditional charm with modern touches. Everything is spotless — from the dining area to the neatly arranged tables — making the dining experience even more pleasant.

The menu offers an impressive variety of East Javanese specialties, each prepared with authentic seasoning and mouthwatering aroma. I highly recommend their Nasi Campur Udang Empal Special — the combination of tender empal, savory shrimp, and perfectly cooked rice is simply unforgettable. The Nasi Peda is equally amazing, bursting with rich, spicy flavor. Don’t miss the Pisang Goreng Wijen — crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside, with a delightful sesame crunch.

Every dish is a true taste of home-cooked perfection, served in generous portions and presented beautifully. Service is friendly and efficient, making you feel truly welcomed. I will definitely come back...
