Rawon Nguling Kendangsari — Restaurant in Surabaya

Just arrived here to taste their rawon. Unfortunately, rain was pouring hard and wild. Not only that, but there were little parking spaces, of which all of them were occupied. Since the diners just arrived, they were taking too long to serve us. I was on the verge of leaving this damn place. However, because I was very hungry, they convinced me to eat.

My taste for rawon has unfortunately disappeared, so I was there for the side dishes (aka gorengan) only. The food was utterly disgusting and tough to chew.

The only good thing about this place is unfortunately their salted egg, which I only got to eat half because the other half was surrounded by flies. That just goes to show you how awful it was...

The Rawon is undoubtly superb, the soup is clearer than any Rawon nguling anywhere else. But the taste is devine. You may not find the place cozy enough to enjoy the meal, but if you want to taste the legendary East Java black soup, this is the right place. The meat is tender and juicy, the soup is rich and tasty. You can also enjoy the side dish, salted egg, deep fried soybean cake (tempe), potato meatball and many more. Top scorer rawon black...

Yang pernah road trip ke Bali pasti pernah tahu Rawon Nguling. Yep, ini resto rawon yang bisa dijumpai di area Probolinggo. Dan kalo lewat depan resto ini, pasti halaman parkirnya udah penuh dengan mobil ataupun motor pengunjung. Berarti ini udah jaminan enak.

Akhirnya saya berkesempatan mencoba Rawon Nguling yang ada di Surabaya. Meski begitu, saya kurang tahu apa resto ini termasuk cabang yang ada di Probolinggo ataukah hanya ada kesamaan nama.

Suapan pertama rawon ini, ekspektasi saya atas gurihnya kuah rawon ternyata kurang terwakili. Saya ragu apakah ini hanya tentang preferensi ataukah memang kuahnya diatur dengan tingkat gurih dan asin di level ini. Atau mungkin saya udah terbiasa makan micin, jadinya kuah ini terasa kurang nendang. Hehe. Tapi, pas gigit dagingnya, baru nih bener-bener terbukti kenapa Rawon Nguling ini jadi favorit. Dagingnya empuk banget. Ngunyahnya gampang!

Porsi sepiringnya cukup. Buat saya sih sangat mengenyangkan. Harga ya bisa ditebak, cukup diatas rata-rata harga rawon emperan. Namun masih terjangkau kok. Yang tidak akan meludeskan gaji sebulan kalo hanya sekali-kali makan di...
