Sate Babi Asli Tambaksegaran — Restaurant in Surakarta

One of quite famous goat satay house in Surakarta or known as Solo city. I came here based on its review which has like 1,7K something.. The place sits right in the middle of the city, using Google maps will be easy to find. The shop is just like any other satay house around the town. Beside this place is the other satay house which mainly served pork. I ordered 1 portion of Satay Buntel (minced satay) consist of 2 pcs, 1 portion of tongseng daging (meat in sweet coconut gravy), rice and orange juice. It cost me around idr150K 😅.. well, the portion of the satay was quite big enough, and the tongseng it self was like for 2 people. Well, I believe I ate for 2 persons thou.. So, kinda like another experience for having satay in Solo. How was it tasted? Sweet! Yes, all was sweet. That's it. I prefer to have Satay/Sate Solo in Jakarta which much more moderate for people who don't into sweet, and for sure for the cheaper price rather in here I believe.. 😅 But I can't deny that they have a pretty tender meat for their satay buntel, particularly for me who loves satay without...

I first ate sate buntel in Bandung. I was expecting a similar sate buntel in this place - that it would come either in peanut sauce or sweet sauce - but instead it came with this sweet sauce that tasted a whole lot like selat solo sauce. I don't know if that's the usual deal with sate buntel in Solo, but I don't like it.

It was too sweet for me. The taste of the meat was almost spoiled by the overwhelming sweetness. I wish they separated the sauce from the satay, because the meat was so good and tender, I would eat it as it was, without any sauce.

If you come to this place, try asking to separate the sauce from the meat if you're not a fan of sweet...

This place serve a wide range of lamb based dish, and I tried Sate Buntel and Tengkleng. Sate Buntel was fine, the meat was great, but little bit off on the seasoning. The Tengkleng was not special, just like any other Tengkleng you can found in Surakarta. The place was not so great and not so comfortable. For locals, if you compare the food, place, and the price, I would say it's not the best deal of Sate Buntel & Tengkleng...
