Man, this place was more like a market rather than a place to eat. From when we came and until we were about to leave, whenever there’s an empty table, there would sure be the next customer that’s about to sit at that spot. The place was so big and we were there already hours past lunch time (probably around 15.00 - 16.00), but it was still full packed. It took so much for our order to be served. I overheard some customers that sit in front of and beside us cancelled some of their orders, and the waiter accepted it easily. From my previous experience, it’s usually not easy to cancel an order especially if it’s already taken some time after the order was made. But here, they took the cancellation like it’s a normal thing. We ordered tengkel, which didn’t took too long to be served, it tasted okay. Sate kambing took so much time to be prepared. When it came, some of the meat was so hard to be chewed, not all, probably half of it was okay and half was still hard. The price was so so, not that expensive but obviously not cheap. But overall, based on the settings, service, taste, and the amount of meat, I think it’s still was overpriced. I don’t know if it’s because they were overcrowded that the service declined or that it’s their usual standard. With so many people who come to eat here, I think that they don’t really care about some bad reviews or the risk of...
Read moreVisiting Sate Pak Manto Solo was truly a memorable culinary experience. This place offers one of the most delicious traditional foods I have tried in Solo. The highlight for me was the marrow soup—rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. It’s the kind of dish that warms you up and keeps you wanting another bowl.
The satay was another star of the menu. The meat was very tender, grilled perfectly, and packed with smoky flavors. It is easy to see why so many people recommend this place for satay lovers. I also tried the tongseng, which had a strong, bold taste with perfectly balanced spices. Personally, I felt it could use a little more soy sauce to enhance the sweetness, but overall it was still very delicious and authentic.
What impressed me most is that the quality of food comes at a very reasonable price. You get generous portions without breaking the wallet, which makes it a great choice whether you are eating alone, with family, or with friends.
If you are looking to enjoy the true flavors of Solo’s traditional culinary heritage, Sate Pak Manto is absolutely worth a visit. Highly...
Read moreIf you’re visiting Solo, Sate Kambing & Thengkleng Rica-Rica Pak Manto is definitely a must try spot. The location is quite easy to reach from the city center, and it’s very popular among both locals and tourists. The restaurant has a humble, casual setting with a lively Javanese dining atmosphere.
Their signature dish is the famous Thengkleng Rica-Rica, a spicy goat ribs stew bursting with flavor. The spiciness is bold yet addictive, perfect for those who love a good kick. Another highlight is the Goat Satay, tender and juicy without any strong odor, and the Goat Tongseng, a rich and savory stew with a sweet-spicy balance.
My recommendations: Thengkleng Rica-Rica (the star of the menu) Goat Satay (soft, flavorful, and perfectly grilled) Goat Tongseng (if you prefer something soupy)
The prices are reasonable for the portion size and the authentic taste. If you’re on a culinary trip in Solo, this restaurant should be on top...
