Starbucks Coffee Solo Paragon Mall — Restaurant in Surakarta

Today marks my second visit to this Starbucks outlet at Paragon Solo Mall. Unfortunately, this is also the second time I’ve experienced service that falls below the usual Starbucks standard—especially considering I regularly spend time for both leisure and business at various Starbucks locations across Indonesia.

My previous visit was on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at around the same time as today—2:00 PM. When I placed my usual order at the cashier—an Iced Café Latte, Venti size, single shot espresso, less ice, and two extra shots of milk—I clearly requested the coffee to be milder and milkier.

However, what I received was the opposite: extra shots of espresso (3 total), resulting in an overly strong and bitter coffee. The drink had to be remade twice. Unfortunately, the same issue happened again today. Even after requesting the same customized order, I was again served a very strong and bitter drink. Although the barista offered to replace it, I suspect they only changed the cup without actually following the customizations I requested.

To be honest, I have never encountered this kind of service inconsistency at any other Starbucks outlet across Indonesia. Perhaps the barista who took my order requires retraining, particularly on how to handle customized orders like mine.

A nice aroma of coffee greeted my arrival to this Starbucks outlet, the interior has a nice design and the place was well-cleaned. The friendly staff asked me what to order with a smile, menus are quite pricey but Starbucks oftenly offer some promos and at the time the promo was Salted Caramel Macchiato + Biscotti Latte priced at 50k rupiah.

The atmosphere was calm & very appropriate for doing works, tables are small tho so if you use laptop each table only fit one person. The wifi was fast, it only has 1 plug for each table so you might consider to bring your own additional plugs.

Now for the beverage, the Biscotti latte has that nice flavor and texture from Biscoff biscuit but the coffee flavor itself was not strong enough for me, as for the Salted Caramel Macchiato the flavor was a bit salty and pretty sweet but the coffee flavor itself was even thinner than the Biscotti Latte.

In overall I recommended this place for its nice atmosphere and overall experience. The drinks tasted good especially for sweet toothed people, but for those who prefer strong coffee flavor there're more suitable...

The male barista was rude. I visited this Starbucks branch on March 26, 2025, around 5 PM, with a friend who had never been to Starbucks before. From the barista’s expression, it was clear that he was judging us, likely because we used a promo I got from my cellphone provider and because we took a bit of time to order. However, we made sure no one was in line behind us, and the delay was simply because my friend was deciding what to order.

Customer service should be welcoming and inclusive, regardless of whether a customer is using a promotion or taking their time to make a choice. This experience was disappointing, and I hope Starbucks ensures that all customers are treated with respect and kindness...
