Terrible experience! One of the worst customer services I’ve ever had!
I visited this restaurant in 2024 and had a wonderful time — the staff were super friendly, and one of the waiters even took cute photos for us. It was such a lovely memory that my boyfriend and I decided to come back this year (2025) while visiting Senggigi again.
Unfortunately, this visit was a complete disaster, all because of one extremely rude male waiter — an older guy around 50, with a permanently unfriendly face and attitude like he’s doing customers a favor by working there.
We arrived in the afternoon to enjoy the sunset. At first, everything seemed okay (even though it took 20 minutes to get drinks despite not being busy). When the sun was setting, we ordered food — pasta and “Grilled Spicy Chicken.” Sadly, both dishes were disappointing: the pasta was undercooked and the chicken tasted neither grilled nor spicy.
We tried to get a waiter’s attention, but no one came. I waved at the older waiter while he was taking pictures for another table — he gestured “later,” but after finishing, he completely ignored us and just stood around. I got frustrated and went up to him. When I asked about the chicken, he seriously told me, “It’s not spicy because you didn’t ask for it to be spicy.” Are you kidding me? The dish is literally called Grilled Spicy Chicken on the menu! How is the customer supposed to know they have to “request” the spiciness when it’s already in the name?
Also, the chicken didn’t even taste grilled — it tasted like it had been boiled and then slightly burnt for appearance. It had no grill flavor whatsoever. Then, without telling us anything, the waiter took our plates to the kitchen to re-cook them. He didn’t ask, didn’t explain — just grabbed the plates and disappeared. And yes, he was talking while handling my food — super unhygienic and unprofessional.
When I followed him to ask what’s going on, he acted as if I was trying to get out of paying. Mind you, the food was only 75K IDR, so that attitude was totally unnecessary. And the portion? Two small chicken legs n smashed potatoes with no sides. Not worth it at all.
Another staff member later explained that “spicy” can be subjective and that’s why they serve chili on the side — which I totally understand. If the old guy had just calmly explained it that way, I would’ve been fine with it. But instead, he was rude, defensive, and had zero customer service skills. He never said sorry or showed the slightest understanding.
Eventually, the pasta was canceled, and we just wanted to leave. I didn’t even want the chicken anymore. (I packed it back home bc they had finished but I leave it to the animals near my hotel) After I paid. I saw that the pasta was still on the bill. I went back to fix it, and when they asked the old waiter, he muttered something in Indonesian and then walked away without saying a single word to me. No explanation, no apology, just complete rudeness. How can someone his age still not know basic manners?
To be fair, the other staff were nice. But this one guy completely ruined the entire experience and my precious memory of this place from last year. I will never come back here, and I’ll definitely be sharing this on my channel so others can be aware of the...
Read moreIn the quiet oasis of Senggigi stands a modern hotel, a minimalist refuge that invites comfort and relaxation. Connected directly to the beach, it offers a fantastic experience for those looking to escape the urban bustle. Its four impeccably clean rooms have spacious spaces and a luxurious King size bed that invites you to rest. From the comfort of your bed, you can see the beach just fifteen meters away, a spectacular view that captivates the senses.
The zen atmosphere of the place invites you to disconnect and recharge, while the attentive and professional service guarantees a pleasant stay. In particular, I want to highlight my experience at Café Alberto, where I have stayed on several occasions and have always felt at home. The private beach area, with its generous shade trees, and exclusive sun loungers add a touch of luxury to the experience.
During my stay, the staff, especially Raden, went out of their way to ensure my comfort, standing out for their professionalism and friendliness. Furthermore, I want to express my gratitude to Mr. Alberto for his attention to a small error in my reservation. On this occasion, I had the pleasure of meeting his son, Alberto, who proved to be an exemplary and attentive professional, following in his father's footsteps. I also met Alejandro, Alberto's other son and brother. In this family business, attention and care are guaranteed, which contributes to strengthening our ties and commitment to quality and service. Without a doubt, this place has become my favorite refuge, where rest and hospitality combine perfectly.
Café Alberto is not simply a hotel; It is a concept, an experience that transcends the ordinary. We will enthusiastically recommend your establishment to all those seeking not only accommodation, but a true home...
Read moreWe stopped by Café Alberto just before sunset — it’s a lovely beachfront location and we were greeted politely. Unfortunately, that’s where the good vibes ended.
Our table faced directly into the sun, and we politely asked if we could rotate it slightly. There was plenty of space, and it would’ve made our meal more comfortable. The request was declined with little flexibility, so we decided to leave.
We ended up next door at AW Café, where the staff were relaxed and welcoming. We had a great meal and set off a few small fireworks on the public beach just after sunset, around 6:30pm. Our 5-year-old called it his “best day ever.”
About ten minutes in, a security guard from Café Alberto came over, interrupted us, and pointed toward their hotel section saying guests were sleeping. Without asking, they placed their hands on and inside my personal fireworks bag and belongings. I said I’d stop, though I didn’t appreciate the uninvited interference — especially since it wasn’t late and we were not on their property.
The guard then went over to speak with the AW Café owners or manager, which felt unnecessary and a bit heavy-handed given the context.
Thankfully, there are plenty of other beachfront spots in Senggigi with better energy. Verve Beach Club nearby is a great example — a beautiful location with consistently friendly, fun staff. In a place like Senggigi where hospitality matters, there's really no reason to return to somewhere as stiff and unwelcoming as...
