I’m shocked that this place has a rating over anything above a 2. I’ll start off by noting that nothing in this restaurant was Caribbean. We ordered the jerk chicken, the Caribbean patties, the chicken curry and other dishes. Nothing we ordered had any semblance of flavor that was Caribbean. The jerk chicken had no jerk sauce and tasted like more of a chicken stew. The patty was more of an empanada than a patty. The coating wasn’t that of a traditional patty.
AND TO MAKE THINGS EVEN WORSE
The service and owner was borderline disgusting. The servers didn’t know what was inside the dishes and none of our questions about the menu could be answered without the servers asking the kitchen.
We also ordered a beef kebab on their special menu. What we received was more of a quesadilla. We expected a traditional shish kebab with cubed meat on a stick (as would most people). We didn’t touch it or eat it and returned it to the owner so we wouldn’t pay for it.
When we spoke to the owner, he immediately became defensive and emotional. He wouldn’t accept that we returned the food. Instead, he told us that we didn’t like any of the food and that we didn’t even need to pay for it either. He was going to allow us to not pay for our entire meal AND gave us money in return. This was confusing to us considering we ate what we ate and we were going to pay for those items.
At that point, the owner started to make a huge scene at the restaurant. He began to yell and cause a huge commotion that disturbed everyone who was eating there. My group decided that we were going to finish eating and pay for what we ate (which is fair).
While finishing up our food, the owner came to our table with a drink in his hand and a cigarette (we think he was drunk or high). He started to get even more emotional and gave us a sob story about his anniversary and how his mother taught him how to cook the beef kebabs. He also dropped a wad of cash on our table and told us we didn’t need to pay for the food and that he’d pay us in return (which is really confusing). We appreciated his honesty but again what we ordered wasn’t a beef kebab so we were confused as to why he was so emotional. He began to call up the servers and tell us that they all had families who needed money and help from our payment of the food (essentially he was guilt tripping us to pay for the bill WHICH HE TOLD US NOT TO PAY EVEN WHEN WE GAVE HIM MONEY FOR THE BILL). So, the owner was not accepting our money and continued to talk about his emotions and the stories about the servers and his own. We sat a bit longer hearing him out until we decided we’d heard enough and he wasn’t stopping his antics. We decided to leave without being able to finish our food in peace. We gave him money that he wouldn’t accept and he still wouldn’t leave us alone. Then we got up to leave he started to accuse of not paying for the bill (AGAIN WE TRIED TO PAY BUT HE WOULDNT ACCEPT IT). Now, we just laughed off the entire situation because we found it literally unbelievable, borderline delusional and that’s why we think the owner was drunk/high. We eventually just gave him the money he wouldn’t accept but accused us of walking off with by directly putting into his wallet and walked off.
This was one of the most surreal experiences I’ve ever had in all my time on earth. Never have I ever been treated this way in public at an “establishment”. The food was passable and I would’ve given it 3 stars because of the effort but the service and the owners charades make this a one star experience.
I’m never coming back here again and I don’t recommend anyone else to come back here. The owner doesn’t respect his customers OR his staff. Instead, he treats people like subjects and is demeaning and downright disrespectful to anyone he might have a...
Read moreThis place claims to be a carribean restaurant…that is not the case what so ever 🤣. Ordered the Jamaican beef patty, if you’ve ever had one it’s supposed to be a softer breading but it was fried to a crisp…like an empanada. Tasted great though so whatever no big deal.
Then we ordered the Jamaican jerk chicken, expected ya know, some jerk flavoring since all these spices were out on display as you enter the restaurant. This “Jerk Chicken” was literally just Indo chicken with rice & onions. It was really well cooked but bland, had no flavor, and was a laughable attempt at a jerk chicken 😭. Still ate all of it with no verbal complaints to staff 🫶🏾
Now things got weird when the beef kebab came to the table because it was literally, a quesadilla. Flattened Bread folded in half over melted cheese lettuce and beef. As opposed to beef on a skewer stick..a shish-kabob ya know?
Because of the clear catfishing from the order we took to the manager/owner to discuss just taking it off the ticket. Everything was cool until a flip switched in the owners head where he started saying he was disrespected & this is his mothers establishment, and his workers are working so hard (mind you half the staff was new, based on the owners anger problems I can see how his turnover is so high), and how our money is no good here the entire meal would be free. Tbh this was a nice gesture but we still intended on paying and leaving as happy customers because everything else was eaten despite the constant Mexican-fied Jamaican spins lol.
The owner proceeded to come back to our table after the convo was clearly over and taken well out of proportion. He puts 100k idr on the table and says a guest wants to pay for the kebab. He then goes on borating us infront of the other guests saying “he put his heart into this kebab” and how it was his marriage anniversary but he’s working-literally creating a sob story to make us feel bad and even CALLS OVER 4 OF THE STAFF MEMBERS to say “look at them, they are trying their best”. This owner is clearly delulu.
The environment had a nice aesthetic. The staff needs more training because they didn’t know anything about the menu (it was most of their first days) The “Carribean” food is…not. And the owner is either drunk, on shrooms, bipolar, spent too much time on Gili T island, or all of the above.
As we were leaving (money to pay is already in our hands) the owner says “oh you’re not going to pay?!” Dudes insane. I can’t emphasis this enough. We paid extra for the meal lol. The homemade wine was dope.

Read moreWe sat (a little company) near the shore, away from the main premises, drinking their "homemade" wine. Everything was great, we had fun. After that, we turned on our music from the phone for 5 minutes. The waiter approached us several times and didn't say anything about it. Then the owner came and asked us to turn off the music. Yes, no problems, sorry, man. Are turned it off, apologized, agreed that he was right. But the owner was either very drunk, or by nature he was so aggressive. He began to repeat over and over again that we were wrong, that it was wrong, that we were disturbing the guests. We once again agreed., apologized for the inconvenience. The owner, apparently, was initially disposed to the conflict, but we were friendly and repeated: “Yes, guy, you are right. Sorry. We turned off the music 5 seconds after your first request." The owner left us in angry mood.We sat for another 10 minutes and I came to the cashier to pay. "When the girl gave the me check, the owner came up again and started talking about music and situation again. I told him again, you're right, everything is in okay, no problems. The owner again became more and aggressive and repeated the same thing. I asked him why you do this all the time you repeat, after all, we immediately agreed with you? The guy didn't let up and had already switched from English to another language (apparently he showered curses on us). We were still just as calm. It was unexpected for us. As a result, the waiters, who apparently know the temper of their "big") boss, are quite polite offered us to pay and not pay attention. We paid off, thanked the attendants and said absolutely friendly "Goodbye". The owner continued to freak out and shout something. Apparently, the guy had a bad day))) It's so funny when an adult cannot control emotions over such trifles, especially when the client initially agreed with your arguments.))) Man, let off your aggressiveness on the ring, not on the clients. Take advice...
