We stayed 6 days in a bungalow at Chill Out and it’s a tricky review to write! Overall was a great experience, but be warned this is NOT a resort with swimming pool etc just 4 bungalows in a fairly tight but very pleasant gardeny space behind a beach restaurant. Location is great, the beach is literally 10 m away with a terrace, long chairs and food drinks etc. On Gili Air it’s a great location as you’ll see some bits of the islands are quite remote. This is in an area just busy enough, while the bungalows are pretty quiet (apart from this full moon rave on our last night). The bungalows themselves are nice, comfy bed, cleaning is done everyday, massive open air bathroom. The staff is real nice and the food mostly good, great and very generous breakfast included. Also recommend to try at least once the BBQ in the evening! Otherwise There is a snorkeling spot literally there on the beach (people from other islands come there by boat to snorkel), and I highly recommend to do the daily snorkel tour organised by the place! We saw lots of turtles etc. Now for the same price this could have been more spacious with a pool etc. To be frank it seemed like location was a big factor in the price we paid, when it wasn’t really a criteria for us. In the end it was great not having a pool as we were just on the beach all the time, but just so you know... Also note for the owner, for the price we pay, it would be appreciated to have bikes available for the guests, also snorkeling gear... in the end we had to rent all of that every day and that does add up, especially when it seems other places in Gili do provide those for free... in the end it doesn’t cost much to the hotel and it would avoid feeling like we’re being milked the whole time, which it kind of did in the end. Also would be great to do something to make the reception area slightly more enticing, cause looking a bit ghetto as is... Additional comment on the use of plastic straws... please stop using them :) So 5 star for the generally nice stay minus one star for the...
Read moreSnorkelling in your own beach…!!! Have to get to the Gili Air Island via a speed boat and the boat can drop you exactly in front of the hotel’s restaurant. The snorkelling area is right in front of the hotel and they provide masks for rent at IDR 25k and fins at IDR 25k as well. This is the best spot in the entire island to do the snorkelling where there is a reef as well in front of the hotel, hence you could catch a lot of variety of fish in to your GoPro…!! • Round the clock staff who are responsible for this make sure that all areas of the hotel meet its quality of cleanliness, rooms are cleaned everyday by default and if you require privacy and the room to be untouched, you have to let the front desk informed in the morning. • During Ramadan, breakfast buffet is not offered, however they have 4 set menus that you can order from. Also, they have a dinner buffet and nice promotional offers during the happy hours, which is between 4pm to 8pm. • All the rooms are bungalow type rooms that are behind the restaurant area with quiet and privacy. • All rooms had an unlimited water, tissues, bodywash, liquid soap and shampoo. However, they did not have Dental Kit or Sanity Kit. Fresh towels are provided in three categories such as Face Towels, Regular towels for bathroom and Beach Towels for relaxing in the beach, right in front of their restaurant. • Tea/coffee and Creamer are also placed in the rooms along with two 600ml water bottles and a kettle. • Every room comes with a TV and Hot/Cold water for showers. Modern spacious bathrooms and separate safe keeping facility are also available. WIFI is also provided for every room and it is superfast. • Value for money was satisfying regarding all aspects...
Read moreAlright, folks, get ready for some serious foodie talk! So, we dropped by this joint called Chill Out on Gili Air, not once, but twice - yeah, it's that kinda good.
Now, let me spill the beans on the food. We dived headfirst into the Red Snapper and Parrot fish bbq - holy guacamole, it was like a fireworks show for my taste buds! And they're not just doing a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am with the main course, they hook you up with an unlimited salad bar too. Score!
The staff? Absolute legends. Friendly as a puppy, they made us feel right at home. The food was a bit on the pricier side, but hey, you're paying for the experience, right? I mean, you're chowing down on some delish grub, feet in the sand, waves lapping up nearby, all while hanging with your fave people - can't put a price tag on that, can ya?
And let's have a moment of silence for those buns. Slap some butter and mushroom sauce on those bad boys, and you're in for a ride. Mamma mia, it was like a dream I didn't wanna wake up from!
They also give you a free side dish of your choice - rice, mashed potato, corn - you name it. But a word of advice, the drinks can burn a hole in your pocket. So, if you're watching your pennies, maybe grab a drink from outside and bring it along.
All in all, Chill Out was a straight-up taste bud party with some killer beach vibes. It's slightly overpriced, but hey, you're on vacation, right? Splash out a bit and enjoy the...
