Omah Gili Hotel — Hotel in Gili Air

My stay at this bungalow on Gili Air was truly memorable. The water fountain on-site was incredibly useful, minimising the need for plastic bottles and enhancing the eco-friendly atmosphere. The location couldn't be better—just a minute's walk from both the beach and a great snorkeling spot.

The room was very spacious, with perfectly working air conditioning and a fan, ensuring a comfortable stay. Plenty of towels were provided, perfect for enjoying the pool. Amenities like soap and shampoo were readily available, and daily room cleaning was offered, keeping everything pristine. Each bungalow had its own terrace, providing a private and serene space to relax, with enough distance between bungalows to ensure privacy and quiet.

The pool by the lounge area was a great spot to unwind. It is beautiful surrounded by flowers and trees. Breakfast was a delight, featuring a large selection of Indonesian jams 🤤, Nutella, butter, a variety of local teas, bread, scrambled eggs, pancakes, fruits, and both coffee and regular tea.

The owners and their staff were exceptionally attentive and caring, winning my heart with their warmth and hospitality. Their smiles were the largest and most genuine I've seen in Indonesia. Always available for advice and suggestions, they made me feel welcomed and well-supported, and well-surrounded which was very nice as I was travelling to Gili Air alone.

The atmosphere of the place was peaceful, safe, and relaxed. I wished I could have stayed longer and I look forward to returning soon. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Gili Air. The island itself is a gem, filled with beauty and wonderful people at...

It’s an ok hotel but the outside bathroom was quite grim, especially when it was raining - everything became dirty and wet and didn’t dry. Having to go outside in the rain and wet floor in the middle of the night to use the toilet felt pretty bad. The towel racks were also not covered by a roof so nothing could be dried and was damp and gross.

There are no amenities in the room - no kettle or fridge etc. The breakfast was simple but quite nice.

You can hear every sound from everywhere - we were located near the entrance so could hear people chatting in the entrance way all night, the sounds from the mosque and also our neighbors using the bathroom so it wasn’t very restful.

Wir haben uns für 8 Nächste im Omah Gili einquartiert und es hat uns supergut gefallen. Das Personal war total nett und immer behilflich, uns wurde sogar Suppe gekocht, als wir es einen Tag mal mit dem Magen hatten! Die Zimmer (wir waren in einem Lumbung) sind geräumig und geschmackvoll im traditionellen Stil eingerichtet, einfach zum Wohlfühlen. Und, wie wir festgestellt haben, vom Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis her wirklich pipi-fein! Bekannte von uns haben in ihrem Hotel auf der Insel in etwa gleich viel bezahlt und hatten nicht einmal eine Klimaanlage im Zimmer! Die Anlage ist generell sehr gepflegt (insbesondere auch im Vergleich zu den übrigen Anlagen ringsum), der Pool ist nicht so groß aber auch immer sauber. Das Frühstück war total ausreichend, man hatte die Wahl zwischen Eiern (Spiegelei, Omelett, Rührei) oder Pancakes mit Obst und Honig/Schokolade. Dazu gabs immer frisches Obst und Toast mit Butter und Marmelade. Wenn man noch Hunger hatte, konnte man im Übrigen auch noch ein zweites Gericht von der Menü-Karte bestellen (unentgeltlich). Das einzige, was uns auffiel: Hier wird mit Milch gespart – scheint aber ein Phänomen der Insel zu sein, Kühe sind für hiesige Insel-Verhältnisse wohl sehr unökonomisch… Die Lage des Hotels ist unseres Erachtens optimal. Es liegt in zweiter Reihe (hinter dem Manta Dive Resort) und ein kleiner Weg führt direkt nach vorne zum Strand und zur belebten Hauptstraße. Uns hat’s gefreut, nicht dauerhaft vorne an der Straße zu wohnen (wo immer Leute vorbeilaufen, die Restaurants Musik spielen, Pferdekutschen vorbeifahren…), sondern ruhig und beschaulich ca. 5 min. Fußmarsch dahinter :-) Außerdem: Das Omah liegt auch weit genug entfernt von der Moschee auf der Insel, sodass man den Muezin nicht allzu laut hört. Alle Hotels, die weiter Richtung Norden liegen, hören ihn vermutlich schon um einiges lauter! Das einzige, was uns im Omah ein bisschen gestört hat, war das permanent NICHT funktionierende Wifi (war weder im Zimmer, noch in der Ankunftshalle möglich). Wenn man also auf funktionierendes Wifi Wert legt, sollte man vorne bei den zahlreichen Restaurants an der Straße nach Zugangsdaten fragen! Aber wieder Achtung: Auch beim Wifi-Problem handelt es sich eher um ein generelles Inselproblem! Alles in allem war es für uns ein total gelungener Aufenthalt, wir würden jederzeit wieder im Omah Gili einchecken! Wir können das Hotel jedem...
