We arrived and tried to take a seat on the comfortable sofa with large cushions. The waiter asked us to move because it was a table for 6 and we were a party of 2. Normally I wouldn't complain about this however the restaurant has around 15 tables and only 3 (including us) were occupied.
They charge a fee for absolutely everything. Ketchup? That's extra. You want your sandwich to have a side? That's a premium extra. Want water? Believe it or not, also extra. And it's not exactly like the portions are generous.
Food itself was okay; we had two sandwiches and fries and they were nice enough but it's hard to enjoy with everything else putting you off.
Again I wouldn't complain too much about a bottle of water (though plenty of other places on the island provide it as complementary) but when they're charging for condiments and even add a secret service charge you just can't help but feel like you're being scammed for every penny. And on the topic of the service charge, I'm sorry, but what service?
The waiter took our plates even when my partner had fries she was still eating and the menu is opened with a qr code which you use by sending a WhatsApp text with your order; it's convoluted and yet I'm forced to tip for this minimum-interaction style of service?
Paid around 162k for two sandwiches which is hardly a bank breaker but the experience just left me feeling like I was being rinsed for my wallet, especially when they tried to short us out of 20k in change on our 200k payment. Wouldn't come again.
There's a cat who hands around the pizza oven though and she's cute. They play nice music and the...
Read moreGili T is great to party, but when it comes to food it’s really not the place to be.
BUT, we are lucky enough, let’s face it, blessed that My House does exist ❤️ We spent a week here trying different places and this restaurant is the only one that worth it around. The waiter greeted us warmly. He took the time to explain us the online menu and made us feel comfortable. It was quick and pro! 🙌
The best part…. Food 😋 The homemade pasta were fabulous, perfectly Al dente and generous portion. Had the Mediterranean one and meatballs. We understood that the meatballs themselves was added of starch (it seams to be potatoes - not sure) a little bit too much of it. A bit more seasoning in it would have been welcomed as well. But overall a very good dish. The Mediterranean one were so good with excellent black olives, great amount of sundried tomatoes and fish. It’s was tasty, delicate and well seasoned. As a starter we tried the beef tartare. We were expecting a defrosted old frozen diced beef but not that! Instead we received a fresh chopped qualitative beef with capers, gerkins, shallots, and a yummy sauce. Was it ketchup in the sauce chef? It was a bit heavy but we still umami. It is served with French fries but would have been great to have some craquers or grilled bread. Just a suggestion ;) On 4+ month of traveling our first attempt on beef tartare was nailed!
Seriously the best best place - By Far! - on Gili T. We can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu. We wish you all the best and a great success through the years to come.
PS. Very affordable price for...
Read moreThis is my first Google review in my life.
I went to eat alone with my child and ordered garlic bread, 2 pumpkin soups, 2 steaks, and Alfredo pasta.
I ordered the steak doneness as medium and medium rare respectively. I asked them to prepare the garlic bread and pumpkin soup first, but after a long time, they suddenly said they were sorry and served all the dishes at the same time...
I don't really like it, but I decided to understand it. The steak must have cooled down a bit while I was eating the bread and soup.
I ordered a medium steak because my child wanted it, but the child, who is crazy when it comes to meat, couldn't chew it properly and spit it into the ashtray.
It was strange, but even when I cut the other piece, he chewed it for about 3 minutes and then spit it out.
So I tried it. I can definitely say that it was the worst meat-based meal I've ever had in my life. It was as hard as chewing rubber and I couldn't feel any juiciness at all. rubber? eraser? I don't know how to express it.
I couldn't understand it so I asked for a replacement, but they said there was nothing they could do since I ordered medium cooking.
What I ordered was a steak cooked to medium, not a rubber or eraser cooked to medium.
I didn't expect anything big by coming here, but I ended up experiencing the worst in terms of service and taste.
FYI, other than this one meal, all of my meals on Gili have been great. Nasi goreng, mie goreng, pizza, ramen, Korean stew, chicken rice bowl whose name I can’t remember, etc.
It was truly the...
