Nestled in an amazingly beautiful old house built in 1800’s once belong to the richest Kalang trader in the area next to kotagede historic district. This restaurant really famous amongst tourists visiting Yogyakarta and during my visit we are the only local guest at the premises. For once I was worried that the food will less spices or taste to meet foreigners taste buds, but I was completely wrong… I still can enjoy the savory, spicy and sweetness that supposed to be. Price was on the higher side but understandable, it’s not cheap to keep the gorgeous old building on good condition. The place was well staffed and they are very attentive to the guests. They also have western foods on their menu to cater tourists that cannot stand local dishes. Really recommended to visit this place at least once to get a glimpse of their rendition of old Royal...

I was in the restaurant with my family. We've chosed this restaurant as we've seen in the internet that there is bufet available. Unfortunatelly, waiter informed us that bufet is available only for organized groups. We had received menu and we've decided on different dishes from the card. The strange thing was that we have not received dishes at the same time. One person has already finished and the last one still did not received a dish. Food was fine but not our taste. The thing which we really didn't like were animals in the small cages, birds chained to the podium. We've been horrified by such poor tretament of animals. We've been not able to eat after what we've seen. Hope that in the future those poor animals will be rescued and restaurant will concentrate on cooking rather than using animals as...
